Was told in Holsworthy yesterday barley straw 100
holsworthy isn't the best of places to get a lorry and drag to, we followed a lorry, that started local to us, from the A38 ? to holsworthy, it was a tedious journey. That, has to be costed in, transport is an expensive business.
Crops around us, are looking very good, on the whole, and plenty of straw as well, so, find a good dealer, and get something sorted out.

Just putting it out there but we wouldn't mind trying to buy straw this year ourselves off the field. Not standing straw it will have to be in the bales.

If anyone is interested preferably as close to the welsh boarders as possible could you message me with a price. It will be bacs payment and no messing about.

There seems to be a lot of very good winter wheat crops around Herefordshire.

More straw than I've seen for a number of years.

May be this year it will become cheaper as the season goes on?
Well we will see tonight at the local sale you mostly take a lot of stopping when you start bidding 😁

Don't think I'll be getting any cheap straw this year just like I didn't get any particularly dear straw last year. Lad that brings it here my grand dad dealt with his great grand dad

Brave man who would quote now
Glad I not quoted for hay , all mines been wrapped . Look a right fool
we are owed a load of hay, chap did ring up, and say he was struggling to get his hay to dry ! It will appear sometime, we would rather wait, and have some decent stuff.
Was taken for a drive across the som levels last week, the ground that is in a conservation scheme, looks terrible, the higher the tier, the worse it is. Most of that land, full of rushes and weeds, cannot be cut until next week, the feed value will be crap. In between those fields, there are some lovely grass, clean, and already cut twice. I fail to see the mentality of the nerds, that think this is conservation, and 'good', it's a right good mess, and no use to man, nor beast, some 'proper' hay ground, you can see loads of butterflies, and swallows etc, on the 'mess' nothing.

They get paid a lot of money for that job, what they make in to hay will be good for bedding so win win as straw is more expensive than feed.
Chap I know putting good hay in for bedding as its worth so much less than straw

yes, accept that, it just seems to be a pointless waste, passed 1 dairy farm, with 150 acres, in a scheme, starting 200 meters from his yard, 600 cows, and buying grass away. Not sure l would like to look out of a window, and look at that mess. Also being told, once the 10 yr schemes are up, NE are making it extremely difficult, to get the ground back into a 'proper' state, insisting on it staying like it is.

he would probably be better off to get shot of the cows and put the lot to rubbish and put his feet up
