Anyone know current straw price in Scotland?
Must be scarcer than people were thinking it was going to be. See one of the big merchants been advertising in press looking for 2000 round bales for a customer.

That's like asking what cheese is worth .depends how well it's made . But prices not good at the mo .biggish horse quality would find £20 hard to find in the trade
Thanks Derrick. I realise that the trade is very variable and lots has been made this year. I've a customer with a lot of horses, it's a stud and foaling unit. His own stuff is going straight into his burner, as it got rained on repeatedly. I've got some top notch 4 stringers, that was a few hours off hay, but got wrapped. Smells and looks lovely. They stand me at £13.50 on the yard. Got some big 6 stringers of nice first cut, more silage like, but very dry, which have cost me £17 to get on the yard.they weight 600kgs a bale.
I was going to try for £22 on the 4 string and £32 on the bigger ones, and see what he says.
One of the stallions he's got, cost a million quid, owned by a syndicate.

Give him a bale , and when he comes for more you can up the price , if it's good stuff he won't quibble on price .... 50 for the 4's and 75 for the sixes(y)
