As for the trade for hay/ silage, it was far better than Jerry is making out, small bale hay to £3.20 collected, quite a bit sold compared to last month at Sedgemoor, a lot that wasn't sold had reserves that was too high.

Small bale straw to £2.20 a bale collected which = around £96 ton off the farm!

At this rate the straw will soon be worth more than the grain.

    Yes it is for livestock.

    Haulage kills it down here.

Also talk of a very large export order for straw to South Africa.

No but talking to hauliers it sounds like its much more easy to get loads up to the Midlands/ SE etc from Wales than it is from Devon/ Cornwall etc and thus bring the straw back as a backload from Wales whilst from here it normally is a two way trip with only one load.

Why are you so concerned, you once posted that all your straw is bought behind the combine locally and would not entertain a merchant supplying straw as they turn up with it at all hours of the day and night.

I'm on £75 for barley so are many others, just because a person bids to £85 on a few tons does not state that is where the market is at. Just says idiot to me at this time.
