ST18 0UL ... expensive product but when there’s 13 horse too feed I’m told by the boss they have to be a manageable size.... horsey people apparently love them so I’m told by them but still about 300 more bales than I need

I've got a farmer who wants some spring barley straw off the field in 4 foot 6 round bales. He loads and collects it himself. Last year we charged him £14 a bale, what should I be asking for it this year please?

4ft 6 bales have a lot of straw in them . Sounds like they were too cheep last year cos they ought to be £14 this year !

Thanks. We've got a New Holland 750 belt baler and make them a decent weight so there is there is a lot in them.

Have sold some good hay recently for £50/tonne in 8 foot 6 string bales. Quite a change from last year but I haven't got the shed space so had to let some go. Will it be worth much more in the winter?

Hay ground being flail topped off rather than baled locally which seems madness , just goes to show the fine line between supply/demand.

Yes seems everyone has hay or Haylage this year. I’m optimistic on a buoyant price and trade. However it’s looking less likely and the same with the straw job.

Sunderlands got 200 bales of hay by Leominster .... they can't get no interest in it at all. There is also a huge stack of silage there .

There might be a bit of export for the eastern counties as Germany and Belgium are desperate . They have had serious drought .

Yes we could do with a few days rain to freshen it up but i always seem overstocked. I dont think there is many sheep men looking for grazing and i usually spout that there isnt the stock about that there used to be but livestock numbers through the markets have been record breaking this year

I think they would take any offer for it at the moment.... it has to be moved by 12 Aug !

Just been offered a few fields (big crop)
