@Cowcorn Think they're going to get £100 acre to chop it ?
250 ha is whats proposed less if more than 15 % of the national acreage is entered
A fair enough amount works out at about 15 euro a bale . And it will show up with out having to be chased or listening to complaints about it been a bit dusty or the bales were to heavy/ to light . And no baler man to pay either even if you have your own baler it still comes into a fair sum for net fuel and labour .
I said before last harvest that straw was undervalued and 20 euro should be the base for 4+ 4 bale and while many of my customers screeched " robbery " i managed to exract 18 with a struggle . One man only collected his 75 out of the field before Christmas and was whinging about the wet outsides:scratchhead: Another man cleared 200 as fast as the came out of the baler but has yet to pay up ...... My vet says hes tired telling the farmers that straw is the best drug the could buy plenty of straw and both cows and calves will benefit . If a Dairy man only bought a bale apiece for every cow and calf it would only be 40 euro . You wont treat and cure a cow with e coli or a blowing calf for 4 0 euro .
Feel free to send over straw if its needed but make SURE to charge plenty and keep the blackgrass of course 🙂:) Straw coming out of sheds is making 25 euro ex shed and is hard to get so hopefully that will be the ex field price next harvest or else .......

Friend of mine said he was charging so much a mile last year in some fields ,😳 baled around 100 acre and had 74 -4/3 from it ,
Not surprised , outfit by us hired in 5-6 ( might be less dont exactly know)new bailers for the season , got going sent some back through no yield , on some I know he had less than a bale an acre , to top it off he then runs through with a chaser , everything paid for by the bale , probably a case of thank god for farmers averaging.
So is this harvest going to be 'straw wars the sequel'?
And who's going to be the main stars?
The ones with plenty spare to sell !
