nothing wrong, in looking forward to next year. I look at our fodder stocks, and have a job to think we are nearly into dec, just not used as much, as we normally would.Advertised my hay and haylage on FB , with the strap line , it’ll be cheaper than buying fertiliser !
Sold out within a week . 360 square bales .
Had many more enquiries and could’ve sold the hay many times over .
Even one regular who originally said he’d made 150 more of his own, hadn’t realised the price of fertiliser and decided he’d have 100 of mine and save some if his for next year.
Need to push their advertising a bit .Silage at Stow , £5 and £10 bale and tidy stuff
Lot of hay did not sell like the straw , trade Flatt
Low stock area stow and 99% of customers would be dealers. How much did you get for your fodder in the heart of livestock country?Need to push their advertising a bit .
Taylor fletcher are a bloody useless firm.Need to push their advertising a bit .
Not as much livestock around here as you think, and most make their own . I never ask the big prices you see people ask but grow it with free pig slurry , so the margin is fine and it sells.Low stock area stow and 99% of customers would be dealers. It’s worth taking pics of the mown grass and bales before wrapping, and cutting one or two open so customers can see what they are buying .I think quoting wrapped prices is irrelevant unless
it is like for like .There can be a lot of rubbish
not worth the cost of haulage or some first class stuff worth
a premium.
Was it not cheap at Nick Champions sale , to much about and no demand , may pick up in the new year as farmers look to stock up with strawLow stock area stow and 99% of customers would be dealers. How much did you get for your fodder in the heart of livestock country?
Tons of straw in the area and not much of it been used yet plus acres upon acres of corn planted so straw trade isnt going to be good at all this winter. Fodder trade would be dire to if it wasnt for high fert prices which will put a bottom in fodder trade later on i expect. Most have saved a months fodder already which will impact prices too. Be interesting if pressure mounts on big fert firms when they realise thousands of tons isnt being bought come spring .Was it not cheap at Nick Champions sale , to much about and no demand , may pick up in the new year as farmers look to stock up with straw
i think there will be ahome for any availabl ton of n in the spring.Tons of straw in the area and not much of it been used yet plus acres upon acres of corn planted so straw trade isnt going to be good at all this winter. Not so sure at current prices, lost count of those that have told me they will either use less, cut stock levels, buy fodder, utilise slurry , buy poultry litter etc. Thousands upon thousands less tons of fert will be ordered which will impact lorry firms and merchants.i think there will be ahome for any availabl ton of n in the spring.
Hasn't that trade already gone though and will not come back or extra needed in the springNot so sure at current prices, lost count of those that have told me they will either use less, cut stock levels, buy fodder, utilise slurry , buy poultry litter etc. Thousands upon thousands less tons of fert will be ordered which will impact lorry firms and merchants.

You have lost me, i doubt arable men will cut fert much with corn where it is and with the barns full of straw now and acres planted for next year in perfect conditions i would say straw trade will be poor for 2+ yrs unless we have an extreme weather event next harvest. Last winters straw trade only comes around about every 20 yrsremember last years straw ? dont matter what the price is if it aint there! im more worried about next season.
no you missed the point , i dont think n will be avaiable in the spring in the quantities that are needed. +it was quoted on here a few weeks ago that a lot of big estates had bought none. abig stack at the docks might look a lot but itd go know where. You have lost me, i doubt arable men will cut fert much with corn where it is and with the barns full of straw now and acres planted for next year in perfect conditions i would say straw trade will be poor for 2+ yrs unless we have an extreme weather event next harvest.
