The weanling heifers I turfed out on Saturday aren’t very impressed… they’ve had a month running in and out of the shed. Now on different field with no shed. Have too get used to hiding under trees like normal cows!
You westerners live in the promised land. It’s pouring down here, has been all morning so far. If you switch the tractor off you can hear the grass sucking it up
would, if it grew. Having fed the clover, still am feeding it, it will give the grazing grass an extra 12/14 days rest, on top of the 30 ish day rotation, And we have had some decent rain, last night, and this morning, so the grazing, has got a bit of cover now, so might actually do some good.More cover on grazing land
Dad would say, don't go skimming of a dry time better to have a few weedsWe haven’t touched anything with a topper. Looks a straggly mess but is growing well underneath. Some have been out with flail topper over last fortnight and killed it all off.
100% right. Just done big patch’s of thistles, haven’t topped a whole field this year, can put up with a few bents to make sure there’s something in the bottom.Dad would say, don't go skimming of a dry time better to have a few weeds
skimming was topping done with an old finger bar mower
Flail and a dry time is the worst thing IMHO
I’d say prices have eased a bit on previous years. Some of the crops wouldn’t be quite as good though. Looks like fert prices have had an influence on some of it.Anybody get to GTHs 1st Straw sale last night ?
I cant see the good Lord frowning on fodder being gathered on a sunday so that animals dont suffer during the winter eating and lying on mould. Grandad always had a saying about the real god fearing types that preached to us quiet keep it to ourselves christians " church on a sunday and rob the first bugger they meet on a monday".View attachment 1045756Voyce Pullin stranding straw sale, what if it was going to pee it down for a week? Seem very old fashioned to me.
And me, work away on a Monday so everything has to be done on a Sunday.Sunday is usually my busiest day. Young family to help me!
bargain......take the lot.as its a price tracker thread, got some good 2022 hay being delivered for £100/Ton, desperate for rain here, going to start supplementing youngstock at grass with hay.
Well, Lewis in Shrops, that £100 plus haulage sounds like the worstAnyone know what hay delivered to North Devon is at the moment
