If you're self feeding from the face there's less slurry to move in wet weather, you can stack straw on top of the silage, and in front when you've moved some away, I've split quite a few tractors because the floor is usually flat and level. I swapped a wagon cab over when it was pissing down with rain.
Much less effluent to catch and store, silage face doesn't deteriorate with weather (dry or wet) Handy dry storage for bedding, lime, feed wagon etc once the pits empty, overflow calving/lambing accommodation, lovely big workshop to make a shed frame etc .

It depends very much on the silage, the weather and the orientation of the face.
Be careful about changing the use. In our catchment someone got a grant to roof over an outside concrete yard. They then put some gates across the front and bedded it up for some cattle. They were inspected and had to pay the grant money back and may have also been fined.I think the point is that some water companies think it worthwhile preventing potential effluent pollution in rivers so, if you are in one of those River Catchment Areas, they will pay for roofing it. Once a roof is on it, you are free to do anything you like with that shed, even if you then build another outdoor clamp next to it.
Anyone would be daft not to take it if it's offered tbh.
