Silage wheat price

Got a really dirty (blackgrass and ryegrass) 30ac field. What’s the current price per tonne value to get rid of it? Area dependent I know but just an idea please. I just want to sell at £x/t and the buyer sorts the machinery. Is there a forage shortage?

Before prices rocketed of everything so until 2 years ago silage was always sold at circa £1/t per DM, so 30% DM was circa £30/t. Good wheat should yield around 15-17t/acre at 25% DM.
15t/acre x £25/t for the DM and your looking around £375/acre standing 🤷🏻‍♂️ Someone will come along and probably tell me in well out. Depends how far someone has to haul it plus their doing you a favour clearing black grass without you losing to much money out of the crop.

Whole crop locally is generally valued at the grain yield x price plus the straw yield x price minus combining cost, all estimated of course. I can’t see that presence of blackgrass or volunteer rye grass is going to increase the value at all, and the presence of blackgrass probably means you really want it off before the grain is worth much in terms of starch.

You won’t get anywhere near what you want for it. harvest it as wheat is such a good price and with all the gs4 type leys going in there’s more forage about than ever.

Mate of mine is struggling to get anywhere near 3 figures for someone to take silage ASAP off a new ley that has some volunteer barley and a bit of brome in it. 😢
