Silaging in the northern hemisphere !!!

We know all you guys south of Birmingham are chomping at the bit for 2nd cut but what are peoples thoughts in the more northerly regions ? We are hoping to knock a bit down later nxt week on some lighter ground with covers of toward 5000, but we have 40 acres on some heavy ground that will be another 3-4 weeks away.

Looks at least 2 weeks maybe more here. Hasn`t done much at all over the last 2 weeks with all the frost & cold winds. Say it quietly - a good warm wet day would do some good.

Must be south of Birmingham then as we cut 160ac 10 days ago with reasonable yields and have a good start on the regrowth.
Weather permitting, going to try for 6 cuts this year using forage wagons under this new fangled 35 day cutting idea

We cut ours other day 600-650 tonnes of 96 acres. Fairly pleased. 27 of that second year Italians. Will be DD more into that. Incredible yield potential if you can manage to cut it often enough. pee'd all over the stuff at home. Really is a no brainer on rented ground that can't be grazed

Cut cut and cut some more. It's no where near my grazing block so it will only ever be cut. It will just be bales if it's going to pot.

Managed to get 2000 galls/ac of fairly liquid slurry & 155kg/ha of 34.5% AN on the aftermath almost immediately except for 3 outlying fields where the umbilical wouldnt reach & the tankers had gone home

I feel my dry and your dry are different. In a dry time here, there will be nothing to cut. Just wispy seed heads after 4 weeks.

HC is in West Wales, dry is no rain for 3 days, i wouldn't say we were usually a dry farm but i think we're now over 4 weeks without a drop.
