Has anyone else had trouble with silobal film this year ? I seem to be having constant trouble with it on our Mchale fusion, dont get any bother with silotite and other makes just this stuff, it breaks easily and 8 times out of 10 when i start to wrap a bale I’m having to get out to tie it back on!

Any thoughts much appreciated

TIA

We hadn't wrapped grass for years until last year. Brother went to local suppliers for wrap and Silobal eco film was the only stuff left. It was shite to be honest. Baled with a Fusion which wasn't a problem but when we picked up the bales to move and stack them, the film was splitting and tearing very easily. I got through a lot of tape patching and we had a lot of spoilt bales. Bales on the inside of the stack were useable but on the outside they were no good. Silobal rep came to inspect and it was the fault of the contractor  who has two fusion balers and does many thousand bales annually and I've never heard any complaints about him.

I am having similar problems with a wrap I bought. It's branded as the merchants own brand but they said a rep from UK is coming to see the bales tomorrow. They are bursting and ripping for fun. I will find out if it's the same as this brand

We had issues with Mole valleys own brand last year. Wasn’t tacky enough and the seals just came apart. Lost quite a bit of silage and Mole didn’t want to know.

They will almost always blame the contractor/baler/wrapper/handler/grass etc rather than the wrap. This is why I stick to a couple of brands I completely trust, absolute nightmare for a contractor to use dodgy wrap.

Yeah that’s just what they did. Using Volac Topwrap now. Seems a lot better.

Is there anyway of testing silage wrap. Any labs that could do such a thing. Looking at a roll I got left over and it's got bubbles of air after coming on a new roll. I reckon the glue has had a reaction with the plastic

We had a pallet of Silobal Eco 5 layer this year for the first time, I found it tearing occasionally as the wrapper was setting off, had to jump off the Manitou several times to re-attach it again. McHale 991BER at the stack wrapping.

Accidentally ended up with some 3 layer last year, it was utter sh!t, very poor tack, so poor that it was silent coming off the pre-stretcher 80% of the time, we complained to the rep and they promised to come out and take a look but never did.

EDIT - Looks like I'm a month late to the party!

I just found this thread. Has anyone used the Silobal 5 layer wrap recently? Has it improved at all or is it still not as good as silotite etc? Thanks
