Having limited knowledge of GPS steering on tractors etc, do they all need a SIM card and connection to the mobile network to operate. Mine does and getting fed up with drop outs due to losing connection via the SIM card 😏
I’m on RTK

On RTK you'd need a base station to connect to via radio signal (either yours, or one locally within 20 miles or so) to provide the correction.

Or non-RTK, like Trimble Rangepoint, EGNOS etc. the correction signal is provided by satellite.

So it’s either base station or SIM card then 🤔

The referred thread provides some info but to recap it here: RTK as such can be either way, RTK correction data delivered either via radio or via cellular data (that is NTRIP over cellular packet data). Some RTK providers don't offer both options, their choice.

Depends on local terrain and cellular coverage, either one can be more reliable than the other. There is also an option to have a repeater from NTRIP to a radio (low power near the field, repeater at spot with decent cellular signal). A pity UK operators are too greedy and don't build proper coverage for rural areas.

Mobile here is a bit of a dead zone, no provider covers the area, O2 just shades it, but not by a lot 🙄

I swapped from a local dealer radio network to a sim/ modem set up from RTKFnet thinking it would be better and faster on start up. No problems once it is working but occasionally takes ages to get RTK connection on start up. It has their roaming network sim in it. Cheaper than the dealer set up though.

I'm sure your area will be covered by a local radio network too. Look on RTKFnet website as they started out as a radio network. Or local dealers.
