Thanks yeah looking forward to see how it goes in the field..will get some photos of how we mounted it to the frame for you will be easier than trying to explainWill be very interesting to see how it goes, thanks for posting. Can’t quite tell from the photos, but how are your brackets held on to the box section of the drill frame?
Yes we was looking at all routes and thatDefinitely interested to see how it goes,I have a 3m Freeflow and have just priced up some Metcalfe tines to try some reduced toll or direct drilling but your idea with 250mom spacing sounds attractive.
Keep posting the pictures.
Thanks. Would need 32 of them so £2460 all in.. if we didn’t have buying the drill costs there would be very little in price differenceMetcalfe time is £82.
The clear pipe will go seed dressing colour quite quicklySome of the final stages to the drill being finished was to add some see through pipeing to make it easy to see if vis ooenervhad become blocked was fairly straight forward but quite awkrawd to get measurements rite to have enough adjustment to move the vos further in the ground we also found some very useful plastic connections for 2 pipes comeing into one these were very cheap at only a £1 each and seem an excellent solution
Few last photos of drill together will take more of drill down and completely finished now and if anyone wants to see how we done some things in more detail I will be more than happy to explain and send a photo..overall was an enjoyable project and a lot of time was more took up in the design process than actually putting together but overall real happy with how it has turned out
Nice build. If you’re using the front tines (which is a great idea-readily available spares etc) what was the price of the laser cut brackets compared to the aftermarket ones you can buy from agrilinc etc? I’ve often wondered about using the the front tines as coulters and leave them where they are-they rarely bung in the front so although there’s only 2 rows it would be an easy dip-your-foot-in to DD using your brackets to hold vos/Dutch/metcalfe on...I counted once but can’t remember exactly...think there’s 18/19 on a 4m.

We used the same adaptor plate which lets the vos openers fit on to the standard horsch multi grip leg tine vos provided.
we then got two adaptors plates matched and made to fit the vos adaptor. I’ll get you a photo.
these where then welded onto the recycled simba leg and welded in a homemade jig to get the same exact length distance.
think our laser cut adaptor 6mm plate cost £2 each.
Think Simba wanted too hence the few prototypes floating around with less/winged coulters but then Horsch came along...Would echo the comments earlier, this is the Freeflow model to get- the ones with the wire scraper and the later type of tyres. Should be a fair few 6m versions about as well. For the very modest costs involved I would be tempted to strip the thing back and respray the main frame after fitting the new brackets. These were awesome drills in their day but I was surprised they were never sold directly by the manufacturer as a direct drill as the design could have been altered at the factory very very simply.
