Getting on well with the package , had a few problems with the tablet at the start but got a cover and keypad of eBay which has made it easier to work . For me it's a great improvement over the pen and paper , although still keeping records both ways for the moment . Can see it being a lot easier at the end of the year when working out costings . Will probably change to a bigger tablet for next season . Have to say any issues I had ( which mostly could have been created by myself) were quickly rectified by the lads .

Just to round off here. www.fieldmargin.com is now in public beta phase. We will be free for the next year as we learn how to be the best that we can be.
There will always be a free level and you will never be locked out of your data.
DM me here if you'd like a sign up code and will sort you out. Please feed back - we are out to make something superb that will be a pleasure to use. We really want feedback and really think that being in the conversation is important. Hi if we ran into any of you at Cereals!

How's are the user's of Crop Excel getting on with the system??

I currently have my own very simple system on recording on excel spreadsheets but this can very time consuming. Therefore I would be very interested in possibly having a go with an Exel system like this?

Sorry if this question has been answered before but can records be synced from a windows tablet to a windows laptop by wifi/ cloud etc?

I have stopped using mine it may just be me but I find it very time consuming to add every chemical to every field after you have made an application

I can't believe there aren't any more views on this software/program.
I was interested but it all seems to have gone suspiciously quiet.

So, could any one recommend a simple program just for keeping track of input costs?

Hi All,

I might be in danger of repeating (or indeed contradicting!) myself but we are still not final on price for the premium product.
We will always have a free version with the basic recording functionality, working on any device.

Reporting and chemical/pesticide checking are the sort of things that will be paid features. It's mostly likely that we will not have multiple costs, simply the paid for and the not paid for version, if that makes sense. In either respect, our beta and our first 'proper' version (when it launches early next year) will be 100% free to use until harvest 2016.

When we switch the paid plan on, it will be pence per hectare per month. We will only be able to charge what people think is good value as we will have month to month contracts with no tie-ins. There will be a reduced price (probably 20% off) for those that, once happy, want to pay yearly.

We are doing everything we do by listening to the farming community (and even the agronomists!). We are dedicated to making crop management simple.

We will also be releasing a new thing in November (at CropTec) which also aims to help people get more farming done with less paperwork. Stay tuned!

If you are interested in using the current product send [email protected] an email and we'll get a sign up code out to you. Please bear in mind that we are in the middle of rewriting it to be much more intuitive and simpler to use with some killer features as suggested by our current beta users.

Any questions just @ me on here or send me a DM.

@RobFM I've had a look on the FieldMargin website. Looks interesting I may register and download a copy.

Are there any plans to have FieldMargin integrate with machine software like the new Go-Task mobile app or VarioDoc from AGCO?

Just getting the tech team to have a look at that now. We are really open to connecting and aggregating information and working with other companies out there.

It looks quite good, but I couldn't see any mention of costings on there videos or have I missed it ?
Only just had time to start using the system again. Definitely records variable input costs, still not worked out fixed inputs but that may be down to my technical limitations rather than the systems.

Having just seen this thread and spent the last 20 min reading through it, how are users getting on with crop excel? I like simple and quick as too busy like most of us to be messing about on a tablet when the weathers right for spraying. Looks a good product Mike but is it TFF members? Thanks

Anyone using/trying Farmflo? Spoke to them at Croptec appeared to be a simple cloud based data record program, attractive to mixed farms as crop and livestock facility.

I've got it. Its ok and I'm having a little bit of trouble with some aspects of it but I think its here to stay once I get my head round it. The people behind it are keen to see it thrive so I need to put a few hours aside and have a good chat about it before the buying and spraying spree begins again. It is a nice interface though.

I tried FarmFlo but found it really unreliable with the way it saved data in the cloud. The stock system wasn't at all intuitive either.

I've subscribed to FarmMatters now and can't fault it. The developers are brilliant and are really keen to see it get better and better.

CropExcel set out to be a basic recording system for small to medium scale farmers. As usual, too many people pushed too hard for it to be changed from a nice basic £30 system, to a lot more than it ever set out to be.

As I understand it, they're still supporting it 100%, and it's still there for those who want a good basic system.
