tec arc profmig or oxford migmaker 180a or largerWhat would you recommend if going for 2 seperate machines
if one of them is within op's budget that would be an ideal machine as it would enable them to use spray transfer for better penetration on thicker steel.Oxford mig we had I think it was a 300 amp on was a good machine great for farm work
We got on well with this one it was from the guy on here is it welding supplies direct ?if one of them is within op's budget that would be an ideal machine as it would enable them to use spray transfer for better penetration on thicker steel.
Jasic or Tecarc would be my budget choices. I've a Tecarc that has had a hard life...drops, dust, moisture and general abuse. Runs off the end of an extension or two and will happily burn 3.2s all day long. I've the 160A version, could burn a 4mm but i've a 400A lincoln MIG for anything that heavy duty. Bought used and will probably not need to be replaced. Easily manages spray transfer and a joy to weld with. What would you recommend if going for 2 seperate machines
I bought a 180 with the.aluminium spool gun for my son to do his gcse project. Works really well so farI’ve just bought one of these 250amp mig/stick machines first day today done some stick outside welding some cleats on to rest concrete panels on then inside put mig torch on and tried that as I’ve never had a mig before. Seemed like a bit of a faff but didn’t take too long to swap. Just felt I wanted a mig for fabrication jobs when my old inverter fan stopped working I might try and get it fixed for outdoor jobs though View attachment 978680
Yes my man lent me a 180 for a week to try and it was a great machine I just bought the 250 amp as I felt that bit extra might come in handy for bigger stuffI bought a 180 with the.aluminium spool gun for my son to do his gcse project. Works really well so far
I had the same thought but didn't do it. Probably regret it someday but it won't do a lot of work here. Too late to tell you now but they gave a lot better price over the phone than on the websiteYes my man lent me a 180 for a week to try and it was a great machine I just bought the 250 amp as I felt that bit extra might come in handy for bigger stuff
I bought it from our local welding supplier man in van that I’ve had all my welding supplies off for 20 odd years so it was delivered setup spent half an hour doing bits and pieces which I really value so probably paid a bit more. I paid £580 for mine the 180 amp was £420 just with mig torch. How much did you pay?I had the same thought but didn't do it. Probably regret it someday but it won't do a lot of work here. I had the welder, spool gun,two rolls of steel wire, two aluminium and a load of spare tips and they knocked roughly the equivalent of the vat off. Like you said, it's hard to value somebody helping set it all up. Took me hours because I hadn't ever used a mig before.
