Depends how much you do. Up to 40 acres single rotor, more than 40 double rotor (assuming multiple cuts).
I’ve got a pottinger single rotor and it’s great, but having bought a samasz Tedder, I wouldn’t be averse to buying a new one of those.
In your instance I’d probably go for the fella

rarely cut over 50 acres in 1 go
a pain in tricky weather with a hay bob
It’s like night and day when you switch.
Remember, you can probably get a samasz Tedder and rake for the same price as a main brand rake.
If they are not abused then they will last as long as the others

Fella’s are good Rakes, there’s loads of single rotor ones round here used for turning straw and some of them have had some hammer but keep on going.
But since reco packed up you can’t get some parts for the older ones, the latest model ones are the same as the MF who took over from Reco so parts are still available for them !.
Go twin axle don’t even bother with a single !.

I have a fella rake, 4.2m lovely rake, Granit do nearly all the parts for them. Or any massy or fendt dealer as they bought them. Also have the tedder. Does every thing I need it to do.

Good job or a gimmick ?

No gimmick, I thought I would leave it set but had some really fluffy hay, adjusted it to allow it to lift earlier as it was hanging up on the tines and leaving it messy. Probably won’t adjust it to often. It’s better than not having the option to adjust I guess.

You can’t get the castings that the shafts fit though anymore for mine, as I found out when someone borrowed it and hit a gatepost with it and bust 2. The new type castings will fit but leave a huge gap either side !, I was lucky and sourced 2 off a scrap machine for mine.

I switched from using haybobs to a multi-rotor tedder three years ago for my conventional hay bale enterprise. How I ever managed without it, I don't know.

I kept the haybob just for rowing up. I also leant it to a guy who used it for both tedding and rowing. Every time it came home damaged.

So, last year I bought a Kuhn single rotor rake. How I ever managed without this, I don't know either!!

A twin-rotor would make the swaths too wide for our conventional baler.
Making a row far enough away from the field edge is brilliant.
But you do have to set the middle out in lands, so as not to put two rows into one, which would be too big for the baler, or the accumulator couldn't keep up.

Fortunately, I sold the haybob to the guy who always borrowed it!
I hadn't mended it.

And he won't be borrowing my tedder or Rake either!!!....................
