About SIP

The largest agricultural machinery manufacturer in Slovenia builds machines for forage harvesting. Its core competence lies in the development and vertical integration of robust, durable, reliable, and high-quality mowers, tedders, and rakes. Almost all metalwork is carried out by the company in its own factory. Starting out with significantly smaller agricultural technology for the relatively small-scale agriculture of alpine regions, SIP’s product range has steadily expanded upwards. With an export share of 80 percent, the company today supplies family businesses as well as large enterprises and contractors and modern farms in alpine regions. SIP is currently intensifying its sales activities in Germany, Poland, France, and Great Britain, and reorganizing its trading structures. Here, too, the agricultural machinery manufacturer wants to attract farmers and contractors with its extensive and innovative portfolio.

MORE THAN 65 YEARS OF TRADITION

After 65 years of operation, SIP became a specialist in grass harvesting. Our robust mowers, tedders and rakes are easy to use and are recognizable for durability and efficiency. Among the main advantages of SIP before competition is personal contact with users, which lead to custom solutions. SIP produces the most robust and simple systems of hay agricultural machinery for professional operators. SIP machines allow end - users easy understanding, easy management and easy servicing. User experience is very important for us. Our goal is satisfied farmer who can do his job quickly and with high quality through our machines. We are constantly in contact with nature. Nature inspires us, we learn from it.

Grass machinery isn’t new to Martin. He has 40 years experience with forage conservation machinery, starting with the Danish brand JF and finally with a Kongskilde owned JF-STOLL brand. He say that UK has a much higher annual rainfall than mainland Europe. This means plenty of grass growth depending on seasons from anytime February through to the end of October. Preserving grass as silage is the mainstay of winter feeding regimes and this is where SIP machines come into their own.”

“With lots of competition, it’s been a real challenge to get SIP product awareness and acceptance tough. Once dealers and farmers see the machines in real time and working, the development of sales increases quite dramatically.” He believes that the 3-year warranty will have a major impact of convincing users to seriously consider SIP when looking for new Hay tools, ”said Martin.

SIP Mowers

01-Disc mowers SILVERCUT DISC.jpg

SIP SILVERCUT mowers

SIP mowers come in all shapes and sizes, but here we deal with the SILVERCUT series. Based on a modular design the SILVERCUT 1000 C is a 10M working width (9.0m is also available) plain triple machine. Working in combination with a front mounted 300 or 340 sized model, the rear units are made up of two 9-disc cutter-bars a left-hand and right-hand version. These cutter-bars are a SIP in house design and manufactured item all featuring DDSS (Disc Drive Safety System) which is brass shear pins that sit above the main oil filled gearbox, so they both effectively protect the oil bathed gears while simple to replace in field without having to access into the main bed

Hardox Discs, with quick change knives operate in conjunction with Hardox stone guard and integrated skids, while here in the UK we recommend the additional wear skids that mount on the basic skid unit. These are offer an increased cutting height of 4mm while more economic to replace when worn. A simple break back device is employed which sees the outer part of the mower decks rising as they break back, helping to clear field debris. Hydraulic suspension is a standard feature and fully adjustable.

The front mounted plain mowers are available as 2.97m or 3.27m working widths and a choice of classic “push” type hitch or the superior S Flow “pull” type hitch with independent lift and control. The 1000c combination can be driven by tractors from 150hp and upwards

SIP Tedders

SIP SPIDER tedders

Another speciality of SIP, SPIDER tedders span 17 different models from 3.40m – 15.0m! Here we show the popular trailed SPIDER 1100|10 T a 10-rotor 11.0 m trailed unit. Small diameter rotors with unequal length spring tines ensure all the crop from even the flattest swathes are picked up and spread out evenly. Being trailed, the 1100|10 T can be used on modest sized tractors from 60hp and upwards. For spreading against hedges and other field boundaries, a side guard is mounted on the end of the tedder frame to keep the material inside the working width of the machine. A clever folding mechanism employs the front safety rails as part of the folding structure which sees the tedder fold to under 3.0m transport width and only 5.10m long so very compact

SIP Rotary Rakes

STAR.jpg

SIP STAR rakes

Rotary cam - controlled rakes have been part of the SIP product range for many years; the trailed 4-rotor STAR 1250|50 T is the range topping model designed for large farms and contractors. Mounted on an extremely long chassis and weighing in at just over 5,000kgs, the 1250|50 T is designed without compromise. An electronically controlled system operates auto or manual folding and un-folding, partial headland lift and working width adjustment all from the comfort of the tractor cab. Rear walking tandem axles are highly recommended for this big rake so smooth ground contour following is easily achieved. Connected via the tractor lower links, good articulation is ensured making headland turns and transport both safe and easy. 4 double spring tines per arm are standard, with the front rotor 13 tine arms and rear 12 tine arms per rotor. The rear rotors have a higher rpm than the fronts to guarantee the best possible swath formation. The STAR 1250|50T is available with either hydraulic or air brakes as standard

Belt Pick – up Rakes AIR series

AIR 500_AIR 300.jpg

SIP AIR

AIR Belt pick up rakes are the latest product range from SIP. These machines have been developed to move grass without contaminating it with soil, stones and other field debris by gently picking up the grass and delivering it on to a conveyor belt where it is then delivered to the left or right-hand side as required. The SIP system marries a 3.0m front unit to a 5.0m trailed centre drawbar rear machine so the tractor never drives on the crop at any point further avoiding any possible contamination. The pick-up unit is of a cam-less design and high speed, but uniquely is also flexible across its working width. Rotating skids underneath coupled with hydraulic suspension allows the units to glide over the ground effectively. Above the pick up a rotary feeder gently moves the crop back onto the conveyor. This is critical in very short crops and stops any “bulldozing” or “rolling forward” of the crop. Belt speed and direction are remotely controlled from the tractor mounted control box as is hydraulic relief pressure and all other functions of the trailed unit. The front unit requires lifting and lowering via the tractor’s 3- point front linkage.

AIR belt rakes are able to operate at considerably higher forward speeds typically 12-15km/h compared to can type vertical tine rakes where speeds are normally around 5-8km/h, thereby work rate is considerably increased.

The photography really does highlight those machines to good effect.
Thanks for your effort and contribution to this rather experimental event. Hopefully this section will remain on-line for quite some time, because I'm sure that the majority of people do not visit the site daily. I've been on the silage for a week and came back to a green surprise.

Thanks Hugh! yes, this is a first and not sure how many will drop in and have a look, but in the absence of the "real thing" its the next best thing. We hope to do some carefully planned demonstrations later this season as and where farmers are willing to allow us on their farms.

"We‘ve been dealing with SIP since April 2015. It has been very worthwhile cooperation. We found the SIP company to be very innovative, they have been very responsive, and we have great support from the staff. Mowers have performed very very well in the demanding Irish conditions. I would speculate that Ireland is one of the most demanding markets for mowers in the world, followed maybe by New Zealand. SIP mower range is pretty much what our market needs. And from tedder’s point of view again, we experienced from the four-rotor tedders up to the ten rotor tedders and they are very effective. And rakes are also great, easy to use." ?⚫
