Size of tank for effluent run off from covered manure building

We have a grant to provide roof cover for a straw based muck heap for our 30 beef cattle. EA regulator says we need to put in a tank to catch any effluent that runs off from the new building. However they cannot say how big this tank should be. Would appreciate if anyone knows how to find a definitive size. Thanks

First question, are they stipulating a concrete floor?

2. If it's roofed over, will it produce any effluent?

Hi thanks for your reply yes it will have a concrete floor, 3 sides and a roof. Have to have a tank to catch any effluent that leaks out of the manure, so floor would slope slightly to a drain to tank

why not seal it so nothing drains ?

we have priced the same, nobody has said anything about a tank, well not yet, if they did that would be the end of it as its already to much money for what the job is worth.

Slope the concrete backwards into the pit, the effluent will stay in there and get spread along with the muck. There shouldnt be much, as long as no rain water can get in.
