There was a study recently in farmers journal I think it was that found that cattle done as well no matter if they were on slats, mats or straw which is what I find here! There is some straw 'bedded' sheds locally and the cattle would be happier in a swampOur cattle finish as well on the mats as they do on straw bedding, could never say that before with slats.
In this part of the country with the price of straw, slatted sheds with or without mats are a godsend.
