Hello Again.
We want to build 2 walls approx 12 mtrs length x 2 mtrs high out of horizontal Oak Sleepers ( needs to look nice as its for Weddings on the Farm) Can anyone think of anything cheaper than RSJs to use as uprights ?
Many thanks Heather

Interlink the joints as you would with bricks and bolt them together with 6” Timberlock screws, no need for pre drilling. Batter back slightly, particularly if retaining any weight. I’ve photos of some I’ve done somewhere if you’re interested.

For 2 x 12.5m lengths you'd need 12 uprights for sleepers that are 2.5m.
2m tall, you'd want RSJs that are circa 2.6 - 2.9m long depending on the load they are to hold.
Would think that you'd get your galvanized uprights for around £120 each depending on how big the web is for the sleepers.
Easy enough to cover the steel face with timber cladding. Would look tidy.
@Little Karoo what's your location? So much easier to suggest a supplier if we know where you are.

Are you planning on retaining anything with your wall, or just want a very heavy duty screen?
Just want a heavy duty screen. The neighbours ( Horses and jobs in the City) have CCTV Cameras directed onto our land. They're also on the Parish Council. We're trying to get a Barn , well you can fill in the dots......
