All slug pellet applicators will have to be tested before 26th Nov 2016 under the SUD.

Ask your tester to have a quick look and it will give you an idea if it will pass or not, our sprayer was done in Jan and they didn't have a set test sorted out for the spreader then [emoji57]

what an utter pain this will be. Probably worth moving to Australia.
Over here its a bit like 'who can comply with the most legislation' competition.
Oh yes and the supermarkets want food even cheaper............

We have just sent one of our pellet applicators to SCS so that they can train up their testers.... As yet we do not know how much a test will cost and we understand that applicators under three years old do not need testing... Probably cheaper to buy a new pelleter every three years..!

My neighbour has a pelleter but does not apply pellets. On his recent red tractor inspection he was asked prior to the walk around about a slug pelleter. He just replied that he does not apply pellets so box ticked. Then the inspector saw the pelleter on the walk around and told him it needs testing. He said he does not use it and had no recommendations for pellets to be applied and in fact no invoices for pellets and no pellets in the chemical store. He told me last week they have threatened to suspend his membership if he does not produce the test certificate. He went on to say he is going to video himself running over it with the tractor and going to send it into as evidence he no longer has a working slug pelleter. He is not happy.

It states that only machines over 5 years old need testing however your grain assurance scheme needs yearly testing so basically if you want assured grain then yearly test !!! My ACCS inspection mentioned my pelleter [4years old] but basically said that he would let it go this year but to have a test by next. The problem is that so far very few people / firms have any one to do the test yet but lots are getting organised/tested this spring.
It seems that yet again the rules change but the system is not up to speed before the event as it was last November that the rules came in.

FFS! I will be waving this document under the nose of my ACCS inspector when he gets here if he plays up. Typical RT idiocy. What do you call this lt? At least a proper parasite in nature knows what it is doing!

Every year he looks for something to fail me on & I've denied him that pleasure for the last 2 years since a client put some out of date chems he used on his drive way back in the spray store the day before the inspection.

Has anyone had their pelleter tested yet?

If so, what's the procedure? Is it quite strict? How much does it cost?

It's all a bit ridiculous really.

Had mine done by SCS last Sept, guy came out brought some dummy pellets as we didn't have any pellets in store and did an ispection, a few checks on disk speed etc then did a tray test. A couple of hours job done, runs in my mind it was £180 but will have to find the invoice
