Slurry Tower Sluice

Thread bump. I’m trying to use the tanker on this tower sluice for the 1st time today, and I’m having a bit of bother, every time, I end up with a full pipe of slurry, can’t seem to figure it out.

Im seeing it in the top glass, closing the sluices, and then what? Even if I open the 2” tap it just lets slurry out not air in?

On the plus side, it’s nice to actually leave with a properly full load, not half air!!

The pressure is probably filling the tanker faster than it's removing the air..try shutting the gate valve then let the tanker build up a bit of vacuum then open the 2" valve all before the tanker ball goes up.

Thanks Frederick, will try that on the next load and update. Once you see slurry in the top glass you’ve got about 2 seconds before it blows off so very hard to judge that!

If that doesn't work you could turn the 2inch valve round the other way take off the bend and add a bit of pipe then put cut off 200 litre drum there. This would allow you to drain some slurry out the pipe. You then suck that bit out the drum first then open the tower again. It might be enough if you can rest the tanker end of the pipe up high enough.

Can’t seem to get it to work whatever I do. By the time it’s in the top glass it’s too late. It’s already blowing off when you close the sluices. I think ultimately I will make a frame for resting the pipe on so not a lot runs out. There must be a proper way I just can’t get the hang of it.

Top site glass is probably to high to stop quick enough. Just check that my procedure works stopping a half full tanker. Then it's just your not getting enough warning to do it in time.

yes!! I watched the rear sight glass and stopped the sluices, PTO and opened the valve and voila. Empty pipe, now I need to fine tune it as the tanker isn’t full enough this load ideally…

thank you :)
