Used Ecosyl years ago, even won a trip to the Paris Show from them. Used the Genus one a couple of times.

However if you follow all the rules of good silage making, especially wilt to > 30% Dm. there is little to be gained from these products IMO

Put a tub of slurry+ in the reception pit 10 days ago, pumped up into the tower and there’s frothy areas appeared on the top, would be nice to see some independent scientific research on them as I couldn’t find anything online. Maybe AHDB could fund it? It’s was only £80 and I’ve just spent £17k on a load of fertiliser so couldn’t see the harm.

I have also tried a cheap product this year (approx. cost £10 per 100m3).
I am after a more consistent pumpable product over and above the "something for nothing" nitrogen claims.
No hard evidence here yet I'm afraid.

I sell this https://www.microferm.co.uk/slurry-sol/

It works really well with a lot of repeat orders.
do you need to agitate, or keep adding some in, as the pit fills ? And, the dreaded price.
Been looking at a seperator, but been advised against, very honestly, he recommended buying a stirrer instead !
But, shite is going to potentially save a lot of money, so it's creeping up the importance list, £21,000 a load of fert, takes some thinking about, especially when we usually have 2.5 loads !
We empty, with both top fill, and umbilical, and spreader the crusted residue out.

It's always best to agitate regardless of being treated or not.

One initial dose the only time you need to "top up" with bacteria is when the store has been emptied (or partly).

It's not very expensive, converting ammonia to N helps it pay its way & the other advantages it offers.

Somewhat incredibly, Glanbia are funding a looksee trial on a “first come, first served” basis for their suppliers using slurry bugs

We use them occasionally under the slats to break crusts as the lagoons are too big to stir adequately. Work well

How long are the bugs in the tanks with you before spreading?

The ideal scenario is to put them in in October so they can work over the winter months but to tell the truth, we are usually taking slurry out from somewhere most weeks to reduce spring workloads.
Top up from time to time

I've tried them a few times
I really want them to work but cant get them to work as of yet

Max time they could be in lagoon here is about 2-3 months through winter

I pumped out last week and doubled doses the pit with what was left in it so will see what happens
I will top up every few days for a while too to give the best chance🤷‍♂️

I suspect that they aren’t very active in the winter months due to temperatures.
Being underground lagoons, it possibly works better here but they are relatively pricey so they need to work
