Smacking...

This is not a party political matter and I dare say there will be Brexiteers and Remainers on either side, it will be interesting to see the comments.

The Welsh 'Parliament-to-be' wants to ban smacking... note that this is not the proposed outlawing of 'beating' etc., which are already criminal, but of smacking, regardless of where or how hard. Plaid Cymru really are taking their lead from the SNP, which does not bode well for the future.

Even proponents admit that this will be an unenforceable law and that they wish it to exist purely on principal; that is fair enough, the same can be said regarding murder. I disagree with it, believing that it should be at a parent's discretion how to reasonably discipline their child.

Presumably psychological tortures will be the preferred methods of teaching children right from wrong in the future. The WAG seem rather quiet on this point.

It is not just the stupidity of this proposal, but the potential divisiveness that concerns me. Anyone with a grudge or a mood for devilment, from children themselves to Joe Bloggs on the street, to an unpleasant neighbour, will be able to accuse with impunity and, most importantly, with no need for evidence. 'I saw her smack the little one on the hand this morning', that could be enough to secure a conviction. Worrying and ridiculous.

It is out for 'consultation', I am sure that a referendum would see the back of it. But we won't get one because referenda undermine our democratically elected representatives (i.e. they remove their carte blanche).

There won't be a Corbyn government but, if there were, it would do the same thing to England.

I am convinced that a disproportionate percentage of people who join the armed forces prefer to be institutionalised because they cannot face life outside. The problem is they are even less adaptable when the leave and suffer mental breakdowns and become homeless. Now they seem to be welcoming more and more with 'two left feet'. Surely this is not the way to recruit for our armed forces.

I thought a disproportionate number of people who join the army, would in any case be quickly locked up somewhere for their own good if they hadn’t joined up.
The more dumb asses you have in the forces the better. Send ‘em off to do shiete stuff and have shiete stuff done to them!

Certainly appear to be lunatics advising the MOD never seen such rubbish. Looks like the British army is going to end up as little more than the armed wing of Social Services.:banghead:
They've gotta try something if they cant make up the numbers with the existing regime, mate of mines going from a pretty well paid job at Airbus to join up, so they do still pull the occasional normal in

Why should someone be a dumb ass just because they want to serve their country, they sure as hell don't do it for the money. I have immense respect for our armed services and I am thankful that there are people who are prepared to risk life and limb for whatever reason, so I don't have to.

Always liked the way animals give the youngsters that go a bit too far a clout and there's no hard feelings afterwards.I know we're not animals but when the kids get bigger they had better not expect a reasoned discussion from their mates that have pushed their luck with.
