Small caravan site dilemma

Under the 28, now 56 day rule, you can use your permitted development, for most places.
Or have 'events' where all the structures are covered.

What about dry compost loos, which are basically a shed, which you separate the solids from the urine, and add shavings. Make it in to an eco feature.
Yes Permitted Development for 56 days is an option but 56 days is only the summer holidays really.

As for the compost loo technically it would require planning as it is a structure. In reality it depends how permanent the structure is.

Get card meter.
Buy cards off you.
Reading meters and people F off or don't like £20 bill before leaving?

That was my concern...

I remember chatting with a site owner in Scotland who had Campervan pre-book for 2 nights but warned it would be late on and would pay for 2 nights in the morning....

When the owner went to get the payment, they had buggered off already. Did it to one or two sites I believe.

Got to be in price paid up front otherwise.

they get so much in pitch fee and over use charged at going rate. All told so in advance at point of booking.

Never had a no pay so far but only really testing it from late last year.
I hope you have a good site because as a caravaner I normally pay upfront when I book the site and would not be bothered with a site that measures all the electric I use and then adds that cost again. I want a simple pay up front rate all included no hassle. I have never been on a site that charges for electricity separately to the booking rate and wouldn’t go back if one did.

Ok, read the post above, I allow for "normal" usage and then any extra I charge for.

In most cases that is £0.

I like to think the site is good, and to be honest 99.9% of the people who stay here agree. Its a CL affiliated to the Caravan and Motorhome Club and has been running for over 50 Years. In a normal year I am fully booked March to October by the end of Feb preceding ......

How much do you think a pitch with EHU, Wifi, toilet, water is worth?

Quiet peacefull location in a ancient orchard, no passing traffic and easy access to the M5, local beaches, the moors and Exeter?

I have hosted a few Forum Members on site, including a very nice couple just last week, your more than welcome to come stay....free wifi will mean you can keep up with the forum whilst here...

We've just opened a tent campsite on the 56-day thing, although we have applied for a Freedom Camping exemption which should be coming soon after our inspection in early April.
Rammed out last Bank holiday, but unfortunately, compost loos rammed out too, I have spent many years of my life spreading cow muck, but that half-hour on Sunday morning was very grim, lesson learned, empty compost loos very regularly!

We wont take payment upfront and if someone is in for 1 night it’s payment on arrival, if a few nights it’s pay whenever is convenient for them. ive never had a non payer and parents reckoned in 36 years they had 1 non payer.

Got a woman who visits every few weeks for a night or 2 turn up to pay me the other day and she had no money on her, I said pay next time your down, she emailed this morning insisting payment and BACS details were given 👍🏼

£20 for two adults, bit extra for extra adults and children, but no extra for dogs, awnings etc, that's just plain silly greed. Our own fault with the toilets too many people per toilet, and left too long. Lesson learned (the hard way!). Checking compost loos every few hours now. Once (if) we get Freedom licence flush loos are being installed.

Always take bookings with a credit card number on the phone...

For people experimenting with camping/caravan sites I would probably just hire some temporary toilets to see how it goes?

When/if you get the Freedom CC licence, do you know if you can just put the flushing loos there, or will you need pp? Or does it depend on permanence, drains etc?

You must be happy with how things are going (if going for a Freedom licence) (y).

Best idea I saw, was a composting loo where the material dropped into an IBC below, that could then be moved on a set of forks and a new IBC put in it's place. Pee handled in the same way I think, to a more remote IBC.

I was on one site with a proper shower/loo block, but for the tent campers they had got a couple of portloos. Wrong way round I reckoned, but the proper welfare units are good I have found. Just keep them cleaned twice a day.

Hi.
Going back to the original question - has anyone discovered a chemical toilet waste disposal point that won't need planning and doesn't cost the earth?
