Wow there must be a lot of sh red ones around now then as they were alot more than that 12-18 months ago. Plus you had to pay Lely a lump sum forthe privilege of buying sh through one of their dealers.

You are correct, they are taking out 6 lely a3s and have just fired up a new state of the art setup with 8 lely a4s.

Out of curiosity how does it compare building a parlour or installing a robot?

Robots more money. Also a fixed number if your a progressive business you can put in a big parlour and numbers can quietly grow with robots once there at capacity you need to be shopping for another robot then cows need to be in it sharpish to start making those repayments!

There you go...another expansion of conventional milk up 35% with extra robots and 6% better cow flow.

Out of interest what kind of herds do people on here have with smaller herds or(spring/autumn) block calving or all year round?were all year round here but trying to tighten it up a bit to miss a couple of months in winter when were short of room always fancied going all spring calving but would this work as well with only having a small herd?

I'd go autumn calving, plenty of attention to detail, more liters to sell and a better price for it too compared to spring calving
