But if a generalisation I know but if it has a Diesel engine then it’s going to be a commercial spec machine.
There aren’t really many bad machines once you get into commercial stuff. Night and day different to domestic.

kubota is the way to go , various ways to collect though , up the side with side discharge deck underneath to rear collector , or out font mower with side discharge to rear mounted collector your saying small so im assuming rear rear discharge deck to rear collector http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/kubota-gr...414438?hash=item4b320f5b66:g:suwAAOSwXedZ25es
always seem quite expensive to me but compared to a domestic ride on but they are chalk and cheese in build

I was keen on buying a diesel ride on at one time, but got talked out of it due to noise and exhaust concerns. The seller said he had too many domestic machines come back very quickly. He was selling Steiger.

Kubota do domestic machines with a diesel engine.
Generally a little 2 cylinder.

I look after one for a customer.

It's 8 years old and has done a grand total of 28 hours cos he uses his 25 ye old honda push mower instead....

From what I’ve read, these domestic kubotas aren’t as well made as the commercial ones.

A nice tidy G18 or G21 would suit the OP Id say. These are getting old now though so getting a tidy one could be difficult.
G18 & G26 here, both high dump. Very good mowers. Very good clean finish and lots of torque. The G18 in particular is very light on diesel.
They are so well made compared to some of the other brands on the market.
Kubota aren’t cheap though.

We have a kubota diesel with rear discharge which blows it into collector
Its ok but not great if grass is wet
Our old westwood with the brush collector was better for picking the grass up but crap at everything else.
The westwood would use £20 of petrol each time we used it
The kubota gets filled up twice a year

How much do you do to use that much petrol ?
I've a 20 hp John Deere it uses nowt like that maybe 1 or 2 gallon a month cutting 1or 2 times a week taking about an hr to cut lawns

Got both here, an F3680 out front 4-cylinder (made in Japan, all metal) and a 3- cylinder GR2120-II. Mostly plastic, made in the states.

Kind of unfair comparison, but the F-series is better in just about every respect. I would have put a grass shoot and bag on the F-series but they wanted nine grand for that option and the GR was supposed to offer more flexibility....kind of wish I bought the shoot and bagger for the F if I’m being honest.

2 large gardens, plus small campsite, roadsides etc, takes a couple of hours or so I am told anyway:rolleyes:
The westwood was a bit underpowered and was working hard all the time
