Small economical car

Similar situation here 5 years ago when eldest child moved to a new school. Ran a VW Touareg then which whilst nice to drive was thirsty and becoming unreliable. Chopped it in for a Fiat 500 from Motorpoint which my wife loves. Very easy to park! However I also bought a new Navara NP300 double cab for pulling the cattle trailer and full family outings.

Now,next door farm are hard on vehicles and do loads of miles running around and they keep buying older Suzuki Ignis.

Makes sense as they seem to have proper Japanese build quality being simple, economical and robust.

Theyve had Range Rovers,Golf,Passat, all sorts which dont seem to last but the Suzuki just seem to take a beating.

2009 1.3cdti corsa here. Bought as a non runner for £400, parts to fix cost about the same.

its got almost 160k on the clock, but runs sweet and doesn’t use a drop of oil.

its a bit of a luxury to us really, used as a run around in addition to the main vehicles. But its handy as hell.

cheap to buy, cheap to run, cheap parts when needed ?

Suzukis are underrated. Idiot proof, old proven engines and a decent 4wd. Doesn't win any beauty contests but will last a lifetime.

Its an Audi A6 Quattro underneath whats not to like apart from the odd Badge upfront
I like the Skoda badge more. Audi is (atleast here) a corporate pricks lease car. Why buy/lease a fully kitted Skoda Superb, when you can get an Audi A6 poverty spec for the same money? Oh wait...

I have a 2002 Micra at the moment cheap as chips to run . It has aircon elec windows and passed MOT last yr with just a CV boot and a orange bulb for the indicator @ £180 with the test fee .Its not too bad to drive about town and back roads but a tad scary on the Motorway when a Mcburney truck comes past at warp 3 trying to suck you in :) It only cost me £250 off Gumtree to buy.
