Tempted to upgrade my telly but all this smart gubbins they all come with is baffling .
At present my telly is far end of the house connected via an aerial ,,the only connection for internet is through a very long cable back to the router ,,this works perfectly for the desk top computer but I don't want to run another ,even longer cable to plug into a telly .
The house walls are solid stone ,2ft thick and a Wi-Fi confection wont work ,,struggle with my mobile unless I'm in the same room as the router .
Tryed these booster gizmos long ago and they didn't improve the signal .
Any other sugestions welcome as theres no point changing if I cant get the built in services to work .

You don't need a cable , connect wirelessly , they're smart

If WiFi won’t work, have you tried Home Plugs? They use your existing electric wires in your house to transfer the signal from 3 pin power socket to 3 pin power socket.

Tryed the Devolo plugs long ago ,,my house is wired up weirdly ..not all the downstairs sockets are on the same loop and I couldnt get a conection through them

Yes but computer is wired back to the router ,,about 20ft away

Get second router, plug it into cable at computer and connect computer either wirelessly to new router or use another short cable to connect it. Wireless from that router should reach TV no prob.
Need to set up new router as a bridge router but most new ones can nearly suss this all out automatically once u plug it in.

Or if computer will connect wirelessly no prob plug the cable into back of one of these and it will transmit wireless for both to use, pretty much plug and play

Does your computer not have two nework plugs? In and out into tv? If you don’t fancy setting a second router as a bridge link I’m sure you could get a switch setup to connect both tv and computer cable in a splitter type of way. You coukd even set an old roter up to do it with a bit of googling and changing the ip addresses etc

This type of thing would solve your problem as long as you only use one at a time or otherwise setup another router to gain wifi access for mobiles, tablets etc that end of house.

We use to bog standard EE routers as repeaters. I just googled what settings to change, had to connect them with cable to computer, disconnect internet and change a few setup values in the configuration. I woukd need to google it to do it again.

You could connect in fro your router (extension cable) and then out to PC and new TV ..... OR, maybe get an Amazon Firestick for about £40 (?) to plug into the old TV and get most smart features

No. Second router just passes on internet from first router. It’s like a 4-way extension lead.
