Just back in from doing rounds at dusk... maiden gimmer had lambed, lamb wasn't really up (but kicked clean and dry) so fetched in.

Can confirm smock is warm with no fleece underneath. I managed to soak myself washing lamb bottles, tube etc and I'm bone dry - the old Ridgeline would have definitely had a dampness on the inner mesh.

Not a great pic, but here is my best modeling shot :bag:View attachment 771510

Looks great. Sounds great . Great price.

But it's not a Ridgeline... #SmockSnob

Sooner have a Swanndri than a bloody Ridgeline!

Washed mine the other day. Dry cleaners weren’t too happy last I took it in.

Managed to rip my Ridgeline when I caught it on the fencer :(

Will look into your suggestion...

My other smock is this one

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/192379119993

I really like it! But it isn't fully waterproof, and the seams ontop of the shoulders need seam sealer worked into them. But it is my main jacket and I wear it all winter and have done for 3 years. It still looks like new. I Nikwax it twice over a winter and it keeps it spot on in all but the heaviest of rain.

There probably are better smocks than this one, but I do really like it. The material of the one which came today looks like a real step forward, though. Both use 'Glentex' which is their version of Goretex

Well it's been bloody wet since lambing started. So here's my finding of the new smock;

It has been worn in all weather and is brilliant. It does eventually let some water through - but just a dampness. Quite often I've thought it's wet inside when it's actually just cold from the water. it is certainly much more waterproof than the Ridgeline Pintail ever was!
Hang it up over the water tank when I get in at tea time and it's dry the next morning (the Ridgeline could take 2-3 days to dry properly!)

In the heaviest of heavy rain I do put on a raincoat over the top of it, just to save drying it out as much - but if I'm away and get caught out I'm not thinking I'll be soaked though (y)

The bigger bonded fleece smock I have keeps clean, mud just dries then falls off... the new smock with the more canvas type feel doesn't do this. The mud sticks more. Will probably need actually washed sometime.

Wind definitely doesn't get through, I've stayed warm in some strong winds, snow and freezing rain so far. I caught it on a bit of wire earlier today, I cringed thinking I'd torn it already - but not even a mark! So it's good and hard wearing, too.

It is really comfy on and lightweight. The brown colour is quite smart when it's clean, the material is silent too. Would happily have another for 'good' or shooting.

Short verdict - best £60 I've spent in a long time. I am considering buying a 2nd

Everyone knows the first rule of social media shepherding is “Always look good”.

I find the Ridgeline much more photogenic than the Swandri. My Mrs says the brown of the Ridgeline brings out the blue in my eyes...

Ridgeline clothing is quick going to the same place as Musto/Schoffel Gilets, Hunter Wellies and Audi cars...

all had by complete twunts :censored::whistle::bag:

If I had to cash, I’d go out and buy the whole list tomorrow, then pose in them for some photos just for you.

Tbh I went to Ridgeline cos I was sick of shredding £20 mountain warehouse waterproof jackets in less than a month. The Monsoon 2 has lasted 18 months so (n)

Will defo look into your £60 alternative.

I bought the new Ridgeline hoodie in the Autumn as soon as it came out, so I'm one of them too :ROFLMAO::facepalm:
I do actually really like it - wear it under my wax body warmer or my Barbour wax jacket if I'm out and dressed semi - tidy.

I do like the brand but I think they've became so popular they are now seeing themselves as a trendy fashionable country clothing brand instead of as bloody good outdoors gear.

Has anyone one tried the new Ridgeline Monsoon ELITE 2 Smock? It's ment to be a more waterproof quicker drying fabric. But we all know that most waterproof claims are rubbish!!

I have this and I love it

I'm tall but very long in the body and average legs. This covers my backside even on the bike

Just bought the ridgeline monsoon smock for £109.99 and pintail explorer trousers for £99.99 in a pre season sale at https://www.lakelandtoysandhobbies.co.uk/ in Keswick, can’t be bad at that!

What do you 2 think of these smocks you bought?

The £60 Riverside smock I have and wrote about extensively at lambing - I have managed to rip it slightly on the back of one of the arms (typical 'L' shaped rip from barbed wire, not even 1" in length)... and the brown colour has bleached badly in the sun with normal wearing. and the bottom (most used) popper on the zip outer storm flap has fallen out... so although I do like it I am slightly disappointed as it isn't a year old yet. Still wearing it every day but considering options for going forward.

My other big fleece bonded smock, the stitching started to fail early summer so it's been binned for a while now... I bought the new Riverside version which is this;

It is much more fitted and better looking when you're wearing it, than it looks there... it was £95 IIRC (bought it in June). It's the same canvas like material as the £60 one. I will be interested to see if the green bleaches the same as the brown. I like it mostly but miss the breast pockets and I dislike the hood (chin poppers are far too tight on my throat when it's up and fastened, so I'm not sure I will use the hood).

If the Monsoon Classic @Macsky has is any good, I'd probably be as well spending the little bit more and getting one...

@Nithsdale Farmer I just bought the ridgeline monsoon elite smock on ebay for £130, and so far I am really happy with it, it's really comfy and feels light when it's on, with good pockets, it's nice and long so great for sitting on wet bike seats! not really tested the water proofness yet but it has a 10,000 hydrostatic bead, so should be very good. Don't think you will regret spending a bit more, I have 2 friends that have had them for over 3 years, and they are still going strong! I would like to see the monsoon elite 2 smock in the flesh, too see if its worth the £190. I also have a pintail and would say its not in the same league for work.
