Snail farming

I don't know of any in the UK , but there must be some in Spain and Majorca . i've been to plenty of farmer's markets where there have been stalls , very often with a little wizened old lady in charge , with buckets of them for sale . The snails laboriously climb to the top of the bucket , presumably with the intention of escaping , only to be picked off and put down in the bottom again . I've always thought it must be pretty disheartening for the snails . Doesn't seem to discourage them, mind .!

Isn't snail farming one of those suburban spare bedroom activities?*
Snails' needs are few, iirc. Oatmeal, green veg, daylight, and secure accommodation.

*there may be other suburban spare bedroom activities that I'm too rural to know about.

Rude. I thought there might be snail farmers on here. I'm well aware of Google. But posted here to engage in conversation with others thoughts and opinions

A guy approached us earlier in the year to host a couple of polytunnels for snail farming. He ended up finding some better ground while we deliberated. Dunno how he's getting on now, he'd outgrown his garden....
