It’s been snowing solidly here since Tuesday morning. Must be 18” lying on ground over 750 ft, 25 days snow cover since early December - we’ve had a winter this year.

Some clips on you tube of drifts cleared off roads that are twice the height of coaches

Places that have proper snow must laugh at us, but last year we were in France and were watching their news Paris was just as pathetic as london, three flakes and it grinds to a halt.

February 1996 here. 4 foot of snow fell. Dumfries & Galloway was completely shut off, couldn't get in or get out, and declared national emergency.

No school for a week dad gave me the loader tractor with muck fork and told me to dig the farm road out... and keep going til I got down to the village i was only 12

I read that the council have given up tonight on trying to open the Ullapool to Inverness road, and are taking the snow blower across to try and open the A9 instead - apparently the ploughs can’t cope at The Slocht and the gates are shut at Dalwhinnie (with a car buried somewhere around there) and also down at Trinafour.

I’m guessing they won’t be measuring the depth in cm.
