SNP pledges 'could mean more austerity

Introducing the SNP's general election pledges in an independent Scotland could lead to more austerity, according to an economic research group.

The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) said the SNP's manifesto set out plans to increase spending while also setting out a list of tax-cutting measures.

It said the SNP had not costed these pledges, unlike the other main parties.

But it said spending cuts would have to be made elsewhere, or other taxes would have to rise to pay for them.

So why are you worried about it ? If the Scots vote for independence it's their problem not yours. :scratchhead:

But they haven't got independence yet and little jimmys policies could seriously distort the GE voting . The gullible will warm to her give aways and will vote for her/ it . They may wish they had voted different after the election and the truth about her policies come to light .

IFS have also stated that both the Tory and Labour pledges are not credible.

Again, that same assertion (which I happen to agree with) could be equally applied to all the main political parties.

Well , smartarse it's the same IFS that said the Tory spending plan wasn't credible , seems you only take note of reports that suit your nationalistic agenda , same as your commie mate @Highland Mule , who doesn't produce his manifesto ... hides behind anonymity ,

BUILD YOUR WALL .

I think you're getting a bit confused in your dotage, @bobk - I'm certainly not left wing - I'm part of the large group of centre right voters who currently don't have a party to support.

So why didnt you say that none of the parties had credible funding plans and just pick on the snp????
Balance is severely lacking

Thought you were postal voting ............... more lies and bs .

I am a postal voter, and cast my vote last night - for a party I'd rather not support, but consider the best of a very bad bunch. I haven't missed a democratic opportunity to vote at any point in my life, and I sure as anything wasn't starting now.
