Probability of it occurring is higher than both of those, it would solve global warming and pollution as the resulting panic culls a big chunk of the population in the west.

That's as may be, but I'm still not going to lose a single minute of sleep over it. You build your bunker and stock-pile your tins of stew if you so wish, I'll play it by ear and not worry too much about it.

If you are still using 50p stamps for second class post then the receivers are probably having to pay • Letters/Large Letters - insufficient postage paid - £1.50 flat fee - for their post as well -

Went up to 58p at the beginning of March

Franking is 44p 2nd class and 60p 1st class.

I have a Royal Mail business account - print our barcodes on envelopes at a discount to normal rates

Large letter up to 500g costs us £1.05 iirc and a small letter about 50p

No prepping here, won’t be a fun place to live in the post apocalypse world.

got to admit I prefer a PDF attached to an email , but im not at all keen on the email "your invoice is available to download on our customer portal" thats me having to log on with another user name and then password navigate through numerous screens to find billing screen , then find the invoice then save it to PDF why not just email it to me !!!
The BT bill up until a month or two ago was not available to download til a day after the email saying it was available was received :banghead: not that it should be a surprise considering its
B bloody T

Much prefer paperless - forward the email to our accounts and it’s saved with no need to print or input

50p stamp saved and a lot better for the planet

What’s not to like ?

Should be law imo
You must remember that not everyone has the internet connection that you enjoy in Litchfield. We're not in the sticks, but even here the next Hamlet has terrible internet.
What's it like in the middle of Wales or Cumbria.

Given that we receive plenty of phishing invoices, if a supplier emails me an invoice without agreeing with me first it often gets deleted without me opening it. We had one a couple of years ago from a new contractor, with no explanation in the email title or message so it got deleted as dodgy immediately. Even some of the regular legit ones can look dodgy, mainly when they come from an email account that is just someone's name. e.g. 'Nicola Davis' (never heard of her) rather than something like 'Sharmans Agricultural Group Customer Accounts' - (oh yes that will be the Sharmans bill/statement.' )

There are some very inefficient businesses out there though - eg local feed co posts each individual bill rather than sending all at end of month with statement (account is paid DD ,monthly so it's not even going to get earlier payment by sending bills out separately).

Severn Trent send individual invoices for every meter, and despite repeatedly asking, won't put them all on one,
It's actually water plus now, not Severn Trent.

A quid? I'd be charging ten times that if someone demanded a paper invoice for anything. Such a pointless waste of resources.

We don't even print payslips these days, haven't done for years. All emailed and available for download from the employee portal.

Anything paper-based that gets sent here is immediately scanned into the document management software and the paper copy shredded and recycled, though it's increasingly rare to get anything other than junk mail these days; that goes straight to the shredder.

Join the modern world. Not everything has to start "Hear Ye, Hear Ye...." and be hand written on parchment any more.
I use internet, how do you think I started this post. What annoys me is the fact they are saving themselves money by not having to use a stamp etc, then we have to print it out. We now have to do all their legwork and my bills are no lower! That's what irks me

Much prefer email.

Email pdf files get saved then I can email them to my accounts package. The pdf then appears alongside the data entry so I can allocate it. Same happens with paper except I scan it 1st. The accountant can see this immediately so no need to send him paper copies.

Bg

What accounts package is that please?

Couldn’t agree more. Vodafone and EE are just like this. Same with nPower.

A slight deviation from the topic, but I hope the OPer won't mind since there may be techie folk here able to advise:

I've had an email today to say that I'm not using "the official app" for that email provider - to click through that notification email to access the official version.

How do I go about checking the legitimacy of all this, please?

Btw, I've opened google Play app and found the email app I use, which has recently been updated. No other app for the email provider is available in Play's catalogue.

Sounds like a phisher to me, what provider are you using & which email app?

Also, please transfer £500 UK (United Kingdom) pounds to my Nigeria account so that I can release the 10,000,000 USD from the late departed president I C Yewcoming. ;);):ROFLMAO:
