my area in essex, voted strongly in favour of leaving the EU, ? Strange at first glance because down here in the soft southeast close to london we have never ever had it hard like the northern parts of the country? even during the recessions going even back to the 1930s? because of the london effect? But the main reason we voted out, including all my family business was, we were sick and tired of being told what to do by unelected bloated politicians in brussels? That increasingly favoured the minor european states that recently joined? Oh yes if you were spain, greece , poland you benifited greatly by joining, paid for by us the UK?

Well the UK is 90%+ vaccinated. Clearly vaccination does little or nothing to stop the spread of the virus. All it does is lesson the severity, and hopefully keep the death rate down. Folks have lost the plot a bit. Marathons. Football matches. Bike races. Crowded beaches. Packed holiday resorts. One mask between 10,000 people. A slight relaxation of lockdown last spring rather than a free for all " Get back to normal ", and Corvid could have been consigned to the history books.
Numpties are to blame, not Borris nor Brexit.
More people will die and suffer from other Inness due to the obsession with COVID and have died of COVID , 13 months now to see a consultant and getting to see a doctor is almost impossible

Glasshouse do you in scotland like being told what to do by the british GOVT? At least you can vote them in or out, or even vote for independence? If you join the EU the rules, idicts, regulations call it what you like have to be followed, countries have to pay into the EU pot for money then to be paid out to countries? This was all right and good when the EU first was formed after the war and their was 6 members, but recently as the poorer countries joined the money we paid in was beniftting those poorer countries at our exspense? Not only that we had no control , plus the massive corruption ?I remember years ago they were talking about EU money fraud in agriculture payments to member states, yes the good old UK , fraud in CAP payments was minimal, but other countries it was massive massive? after all these countries didnt see the money fraud as a problem it came out of the EUs pot?

Why does every loser blame the EU

I was born on a 65 acre rented farm in 1964

I'm now reasonably well off, partly thanks to the EU.

Edit Must admit I'm amused at the struggle to find veg/fruit field workers. But worry about our now reduced ability to export produce/products of any type.
Why do you feel the need to keep telling us how wealthy you are every 10 minutes ? Seems a bit strange.....

I need to get my prostate checked , gave up trying to see the doctor , he said he would get me an appointment to see a consultant, have nowwaited 3 months I phoned the hospital to check , reply was it will be another 13Months , I phoned the private hospital at Carmarthen ,they are seeing me next week
As for Brexit , the country now owns it's own mess , if you own your mess you tend to act in it as you have no one else to blame , we have a very bright future, as long as missing piston labour don't get in

If you believe that printing money is a “recovery”.
Ten years of agricultural hell was not a short term problem, compounded by bse and foot and mouth
Those ten years took a terrible toll on the uk farming industry, which would have been a lot less bad inside the eurozone.
It was also the falsely high exchange rate that sucked in so many eastern europeans which ultimately led to brexit.
I was forced out of my farm by the landlord in 2015 at the very low point on your graph
So i got a poor trade for all my equipment and crop, so the brexit boom is largely irrelevant to me.

I genuinely sympathise with how circumstances affected you but I fear that your personal bad experience is skewing your wider view.
The EU printed more money for longer than the UK so it's difficult to understand your criticism.
What the financial crisis did absolutely highlight is how political and financial controls on a continental scale means that targeted measures are not possible and that measures put in place to help some countries are very detrimental to others.
It also laid bare the fact that for the Eurozone to work, it needs political and financial alignment [federalism] which is deeply unpopular. This the fundamental failure of the EU.

A union of European states with national independence and international cooperation and a single market is a brilliant thing.
A federal union of states where controls come from a central parliament covering a continent can never be democratic or popular for more than a few years.

I agree, one of the reasons I voted to leave the EU, was the buck would stop in Westminster, ministers would no longer be able to wring their hands and say, we would like to..... but Brussels won't let us. I am hoping that bringing responsibility and accountability back to the UK will mean we start to get a better calibre of politicians.

any guv will sell out farming, it has to.
why ? Simple, food has to be cheap, for two reasons, the first to keep the public happy, the second, leaves them more money to spend on taxable goods, and any guv needs more than it gets.
As for the euro, that has been flawed from it's start, they bent the rules, to get more countries in, and some of those countries should never ever have been allowed to join. It will limp on, until germany decides it has had enough of backing it.
As for the EU, none of the problems that caused us to leave, have been addressed, in fact they probably have got worse. We had a referendum, l suspect if many other countries, had the chance of a referendum, the results would be 'interesting' to say the least, but the 'commission' would/could not listen. Many years ago, when new countries were looking to join, and there were 'worries', an old chap told me not to worry, his view was,' the more that join the better, and the quicker they will fall out.' I fear that is happening now, mores the pity, it has kept europe from falling out with each other for 50 odd years.
