Fully booked here to. Wouldn't be surprised if we get some no shows ,once folks are allowed to visit Spain etc again. As long as we still get the deposits I'd be happy.

Bit like 2007 here. Shitty winter, followed by cold late spring, which was then followed by damp may and June monsoon resulting in 6 inch of rain over 24 hours and horrendous flooding in July. Really hoping the next 2 months don't go the same way. Glad for the rain we've has here tbh.

I think folk are forgetting 1983, turned out late April but still wet, out for ten days then back in till late May, made a huge mess, cut and hauled grass but tractors made lots of ruts, silage wasnt started till mid june and even then had to miss wet spots and lots of ruts, being young and keen I tried one field a week earlier, full of dirt and mud, I learnt a good lesson, well made late silage is better than badly made stuff.

We have an annual visit from our “property manager” who is a complete waste of space, but otherwise no. We know what we want to provide for our guests and endeavour to do that. As @Hilly said though, there are some great interesting people and some total w.....s. Had to kick a couple out of a hot tub this afternoon as they were about to get out of hand, but on the whole not too much bother

I wouldn’t say we were getting out of hand exactly.......
It’s just that when he’s had a few too many Baldrick tends to do daft things, like singing bawdy sea shanties and then pretending he’s a submarine raising its periscope........

Yes, its not a bad day today but my grazing land is still totally saturated after yesterday. More heavy rain tomorrow I fear. And heavy showers or rain now forecast for the next ten days, changed from a dry week forecast up 'till yesterday for Monday on. Wet wet wet! :poop:
Cheer up all In same ⛵ (boat).

we were due this wet spell as our sandy fields were burning in april, but weve had enough now and it is getting a bit tiresome, need some serious warmth.

One bonus for me, Im finally up there with the big knobs, sharing pictures of may grass growth up to and beyond the top of a welly

And providing the aeration bubbles in the tub.

Can’t say I blame him , I get loads of really nice people but also get my share of total toss pots as well, dealing with public is a tale of to halves I find either absolute pleasure meet great interesting people or total opposite .. 😂
My parents let a farm cottage regularly in the 60s and 70s. There are 3rd generations still coming now, to a different house tho'.
In those days of course, payment was either cash or cheques. A doctor came, stayed and paid by cheque. On presenting it the bank said that a stop order had been placed on it. Dad wasn't one to pussy foot around. He wrote to the BMA and asked if it was acceptable practice for its members to pass rubber cheques and naming the person. Within days there was another cheque in the post.

are you sure ? BBC forecast for here wet sun, mon then dry til 4th of June and the rain normally bypasses the coast and drops its self here!
The BBC weather forecast, like pretty much everything the BBC publishes, is utter rubbish. I recall back in March looking for a weather window to turn out cows and calves, the forecast would say we had five good fine days ahead with out any rain but you scroll down to the Outlook and it was wintery showers.

A poor forecast is one thing but they may have well said ‘we don’t know’ would have been more helpful.

Admittedly we didn’t get Thursdays storm but things are pretty good in the vale. Apart from one escape cows have been well behaved, little or no damage. Due to the slow growth earlier on we managed to graze 90% of the farm so have plenty quality grass in front of the cows.
We would like to make some silage this week though. Cows showing really good heats and solids output is ahead of last yr with a few fewer cows. Life rolls on in the magic vale.

if we spouted the wrong forecasts, as the BBC do so frequently, we would have been shut down, sued or ridiculed. their response, oh well, they simply don't care about the monetary cost of their crap.

I do wonder if we’ve had more rain around here than some areas, I’m usually of the opinion that we could do with a bit more but we’ve certainly had enough now.

This is the field the cows would be grazing if out, I can’t see them going out for a few days yet.
