I have been trying to fathom out why I could not get any vacuum with the Gascoigne miracle milker.
I tried everythine I could think of, overhauled the pump, replaced gaskets etc all to no avail.
So I sent the tank off to be shot blasted ready for painting and then all became clear LOL

Also the plate between the vacuum chamber and the silencer chamber has rust holes.

Consider fiberglass as a repair, or cut a neat steel patch and bond it on with Isopon P40 (or equivalent) its chopped fiberglass used for auto body repair. Better than a weld if applied to well keyed surfaces. If in doubt, do a test piece first.

I am probably going get the rusted area cut out and a new section welded in. Probably the lower 1/3 of the vacuum chamber and just patch the disc that separates the vacuum from the silencer

Well the miracle milker is finished and holds good vacum. I will leave the original outer cover as is to preserve some originality,
A quick question for those of you more knowledgeable than I, on electrics.
The original start stop switch was a simple Bakelite unit with a coil incorporated in it.
What would you recommend I replace it with I/2 Hp single phase motor

We'll have to investigate that switch more, can it be saved, just use a ELCB/RCCB on the end of the lead for safety, that mightn't be the best idea in the world?

Can you throw a few images up of the wiring etc, when you get a chance?
The above push button switch is very very modern for your application isn't it?
