So what can we expect and when?

Now that the climate scientists have proved beyond any doubt the farmers are responsible for destroying the planet and spoiling the good time everyone was having. And now that the media have made sure everyone has been made fully aware of this outrage. And now that our leaders have seen the light and basically left themselves no option but to act to stop this. What form of action will they take?

Pay us to do nice things with our land to make nice places for nice people to enjoy nice wildlife and nice smelling flowers?

Continue and ramp up the campaign to turn people against red meat and make it socially unacceptable?

Tax red meat?

Tell us to cut or get rid of our animals and send us to jail if we refuse for endangering the future of humanity?

It's all very stressful I think I need to fly off on a foreign holiday, preferably on a long haul flight.

A bit of hypocrisy everywhere
Greece blames Global warming for its fires,
But has one of the biggest Brown coal open cast mines to supply its power network,
Australian fires, similar massive open cast mines of all descriptions,
Far East floods, but dump massive amounts of waste into the seas,
California, one of the most densely populated and intensive states in the states.

How about we lead the way,
Cancel Hs2, Stonehenge tunnel. New bridge across the the Thames, New East West Rail link,
Heathrow third runway and stop all the bloody distribution depots, that are blighting the country.

Ohh I don’t know, it was said on the telly box this morning that these bods at the IPCC shin dig were certain that this global warming thingy was almost entirely man made.

I thought that was great news and what I thought all along, it’s not the cows fault it’s mankind.👍

Also see a lot of people here in the UK say that China is far worse than us but most of our goods are made there. So a lot of china's emissions are actually ours

Well I haven't seen everything on every channel but what I saw never mentioned cows which surprised me a bit.
I presumed it was a change of tack to point out how serious things were rather than pretend we can carry on as normal if we eat less meat.
Wasn't actually referring to the ipcc report. More just in general.

But there is quite clearly increasing blame being put on livestock farming for causing climate change.

Although I was being sarcastic in my first post I was being serious in asking what actual steps the government might take against us because so far its just talk but I can't see that lasting?

Ah but the bits of paper in Westminster say that the Western companies in China making £Billions do not count towards UK CO2 figures.

Bits of paper rule ok.

The mantra repeated by the BBC and other lazy journalists repeating vegan and animal rights activists lies about ruminants being responsible for global warming have damaged the credibility of scientists arguing for action on global warming. I have yet to find any of the wide range of my acquaintances who believe the nonsense that we have to eat less meat and dairy to save the planet. The reason is that they have all been taught about the carbon cycle in basic science. This is reflected in beef and lamb prices holding up. There has been no reduction in demand.
The problem that the BBC line has caused is that folk don’t believe scientists and any other sensible actions that individuals could take such as reducing air travel, making clothes and consumables generally last longer are largely ignored.
In the mean time huge marketing budgets are being spent by big corporations to persuade the masses to buy shite they don’t need with money they don’t have to impress people they don’t particularly like.
None of the so called world leaders are prepared to admit that reducing the birth rate across the world is the only real answer.
Coupled with the hypocrisy of world leaders flying in to Glasgow with their entourages to talk about how the rest of us must change our lives leads me to believe there is no real answer to the problem and nature will take its course.

Why would they need to pay you?

Stop paying the calf payments and the cattle will disappear faster than Scotch Whisky at a Blackface tup sale

Carbon emissions reduced.

Stop paying the LFASS/SUSS and the 85%of Scotland that is classified as LFA will be abandoned.

Rewilding.

All at no cost.

The thing that worries me most about the future is losing land held on short term tenancies to environmental schemes having already lost good land to trees, not any reduced demand for the product I produce.

Do you believe that reducing cattle numbers will reduce carbon emissions?

Do you believe abandoning the 85% of Scotland that is classified as LFA will reduce carbon emissions?

I think the general plan is to run us out of business.

Only flaw in that plan I can see is when there’s no difference to climate change and we aren’t there to blame what are they gonna do?
They will all be too hungry and fighting wars over food to worry about climate change by then!

It just goes to show how quickly some abandon there frends, it wasn't long ago ruminants were stopping us from freezing now they are no longer required as we can do ourselves by burning fossil fuel we want to get rid of them.
So what happens when the fossil fuel fuel runs out and we have no ruminants to keep us warm ? Another ice age?

The above sounds stupid but if ruminants cause a short term warming effect now, then they have for hundreds/thousands of years just by being here, take them away and that won't happen so if we get to a point where we have no ruminants and produce no emissions ourselves apart from the short cycle ones we are now then we will freeze to death.
I would rather have a few cows and sheep about than freeze to death
