Currently doing the rounds on FB. No reason to suppose anything other than genuine, especially considering her remarks about farmers in general are very positive. Whoever was responsible should own up and pay the vets bills at the very least...

Unfortunately I doubt they will own up going by what a lot of people on here think about horse owners, plus they could end up being prosecuted for their actions.

Shame the horse has had to endure the pain and suffering that would have resulted from that negligence.

I think it's very possible to both dislike horses and to think that driving machinery into them is a bad idea.

So why not a description of the tractor and trailer ? Sorry if I sound hard but just to say ' a speeding tractor ' seems very vague . If they really want the alleged culprit caught then a few clues would help ..... tin hat on !!!!

If her post is indeed a true account of what happened, the driver deserves to be prosecuted to the limits of the law.

There's two sides to every story.....there's no way that horse got 'hit by a speeding tractor and trailer' while stood stock still, it would be bits of meat on the road, as would the rider. My guess would be that as the trailer passed by (at a whatever speed) the horse pirouetted and its back end was clipped by the side of the trailer. Possibly caught part of a rear door tipping mechanism, or a tarpaulin hook, something sticking out fairly high up. Hence right to left skin tear on its rear end. It sounds like the horse is not exactly bomb proof, by the owners own admission that 'other tractor drivers stopped and shut off their engines' - thats only necessary when you've got a horse thats jittering all over the road.

Now I have no idea as to the legalities, but one assumes if your horse moves into the side of a moving vehicle the rider is at least partially to blame too, for not having their animal under control? The driver however certainly should have stopped, and deserves to be prosecuted at the very least for failing to stop after an accident, assuming they did actually know, as they wouldn't feel a thing, and given the rider was gesticulating wildly before the incident might think any arm waving seen in a mirror was more of the same.

Where the responsibility for the actual accident lies however requires a bit more information than one Facebook post from one of the interested parties.

Where’s the description of the tractor and trailer? Or the driver? She was waving her arms at him to get him to slow down

Maybe in the panic she struggled to get a description I’d imagine when the arse of your horse is ripped off you have other things to think about.
In your opinion, what caused the injury and why is she lying (as you think she is)

She saw it before it hit her...I think you’d remember what colour and make the tractor was and what colour trailer it was

If it did happen I would go along with the earlier post that says the horse probably turned into the trailer and the driver may not have known about it .however tractors do have mirrors and I would think most drivers would glance to see all was well when passing a pedestrian, horse, bike etc etc. She saw the tractor coming so she would know what colour and she would have looked at it in anger after and would have seen colour of trailer .
