Watch this, awkward on a different level.
Saw that. With experience I expect that's a really nice job. Knew a guy that used to dive down and weld up intake grills at sea (Holland I think). Said it was pretty much zero visibility and they'd jump of the raft/boat a float along with the current until the lanyard went tight at exactly the right length and start work basically blind.Watch this, awkward on a different level.
I reckon there’s a joke there somewhereI don't mind diving but I'm fudged if I'm doing that inside a pipe.
something left a bad taste in his mouth ?I reckon there’s a joke there somewhere
Dont know what he gets paid. But he deserves every pennyWatch this, awkward on a different level.
Looks like it’s under the river so it’s wet around the outside of the pipe too so would just keep flooding in.Why didn’t they pump it out?
The pipes 3/4 full so surely they could pump it out.
14 years ago this week the utilities sent a frogman down a 750mm main on my farm to repair it with resin, the pipe is dug into a very steep hill and they sent him down about 100m,the repair didn’t work.
Was talking with an old chap who’d been down the same pipe on a trolley some 600m,when he returned out the pipe the gang working above let the water come,if he’d have been 30seconds slower on the job he’d have been killed.
I believe itis standard for them to work in pairs if possible for safetyVery impressive, must cost a lot but pipe goes under a river so impossible to do any other way? Two divers sharing the work or one for rescue?
A mate of mine used to reline sewer pipes, nart on but a wetsuit, I forget what size he said he could get in but he said a lot couldn't do it as if you tensed up you got stuck
I suppose it depends which end of the tunnel your divingsomething left a bad taste in his mouth ?
