Social media

You can't allow a social media to be a platform for people to say anything they like though, mainly because you appear to be condoning what is said.
I dont disagree in many ways but as I keep saying who decides who can say what ? Who gets banned next ? It may seem a stretch but as I posted before these companies will have the power and influence to put puppets into power before much longer if we allow them to censor people, good grief years ago they would be on treason charges, yes trump is bonkers but for the next couple of weeks he is the democratically elected leader of the USA, face book and twitter are unaccountable, they worry me more than an orange tv personality who will have no more power in a couple of weeks, those two companies' power is growing everyday, if people arent concerned by that fact then they bloody well should be

Say? Nobody, in the privacy of your own house and provided your wife is happy. Outside you’d have to be careful not to breach the peace or fall foul of the hate crime laws, but an honest chap like are very unlikely to do so.

Write on a privately owned website/ app - the ones who own that system, 100%. If @Clive wants to kick me off here for writing that, he’s welcome to do so, but I suspect he wouldn’t without warning, unless I was very stupid or posted kiddie porn or the likes.

So, as I gather, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram have banned Trump from posting either temporarily or permanently. Thoughts on this? If you don't like him you may think its superb news. But then, what if they suddenly decide they don't like you? Like this forum where we may get a bit heated but have a laugh in the end? Personally I find this very disturbing. In our town we have a thing called ways with words where speakers come from all over the world and talk about whatever. Kate Adie who I am sure is probably left of center came down many years ago to argue for free speech in that you should have the right to make a fool of or hang yourself by your words. The gods of social media, a couple wierdos, have decided that is no longer the case. Shadow banning, de-monetising on Ytube etc.

You may hate Trump, you may not but is the most powerful man in the world not allowed a voice on the net? If he's not then what hope do you have? You can be silenced and disappeared any time they like.

I am personally removing myself from all these platforms. It's disgusting in my view and I want nothing to do with it.
They don't like me

You're banned on FB for stating an animal is for sale

I spose its like living in a country by doing so you agree to abide by the law, use Twitter, FB or Instagram and you agree to abide by their rules.
I don't use Twitter or Instagram and don't see anything from trump on FB so a question for those that do, what did trump put on there that got him banned?

I don't know what he said. Probably encouraging people to go to DC on the 6th. I am not banned from Twitter but like many other people with the 'wrong' views they demanded my name, address and phone number before I could log back in. So I binned it. Getting rid of FB too as their new guidelines apparently gives them to right to pretty much all data on your computer and any computer or device on the same network.

Pretty much the reason Trump came into being was because over 50% of the population were not just being ignored but persecuted.

Predominantly by the rich Democrats sitting in Washington City. IMHO Liberals are the complete opposite of tolerant and definantely do not want Democracy.

I was thinking over dinner today this explains Democrat links with China and their version of Communism. There is no dissent in China and I think many so called Liberals look on China with envy. Also explains their willingness to abandon certain groups, platform removal.

Regardless Trump is just one man .. the precident has been set. More worrying is the political emphasys on banning right leaning websites and communication platforms.

If someone comes to power all these groups which have been banning democracy need to be both banned, assets taken and those in charge have their citizenship removed as they seem to have lost the understanding of what a society is.

Ultimately we all have a choice in what read and what we post, we have our own opinions and views and social media platforms are great ways to share information and learn about subjects via other users, they are a fantastic resource. You also have to accept that they are used by others to post their views and opinions that we won’t always agree with, I’ve always tried to take a considered approach to posting on different forums, it’s very easy to get caught in the emotion of a subject. Remember there are many who probably wouldn’t say to your face the same stuff that gets posted, take it for what it is and don’t get tied up in it, how often do you compose an email, read back through it and then reconsider what you’ve written?? If you wouldn’t send it in an email, you probably shouldn’t post it on a public forum.

Not alone should Trump be banned from social media, for having incited insurrection from within government, but he really should be also charged with treason. He should face the full rigour of the law, and ultimately reside at the pleasure of the US government in a place of incarceration, without leave for parole.

I agree .. the same should apply to you though too. I've seen plenty of posts from you of hatred of English people for no reason.

Let's see you in court.

I do dispair at some who inhabit Twitter.
In today`s MOS there is an excellent 2 page interview with Michael Oliver the referee.
In it he admits, with hindsight, that Pickford`s challenge in the Everton Liverpool match should have resulted in a red card.
Twitter nuts go crackers about the headline but ignore all the rest of the article which tells you much more about refereeing, & VAR

Quite.

I don't use Twitter or Facebook because I don't see the point and I also think they are very false and underhand in the way they get people to put content on their sites then use that content against them. I doubt many people understand how they are being manipulated and categorised by such sites.

I cant recall where I read it now but it was a credible source I believe. I'll see if I can find it.

I think this is down to the placement of data ... ie which country the data is stored. I think if the data is outside the UK/Europe then you don't have any rights to that data.

So you may enter the data in the UK but if the servers are in USA territory then their laws apply.

I use Steam which is based in Luxemburg to buy games .. although I have "bought" the game I actually do not own that game. I operate it under a license .. another American company.

Steam has had the policy of "Caveat Emptor" or buyer beware. So if you bought a game off Steam and it failed to work they would not give you a refund. These days this has been improved to "2.5 hours" of gameplay before you cannot refund. So if you are trying to fix a game you have to watch the counter of the time you spend attempting to get it to work - as soon as you go over that's it no refund.

That’s simply not true. The Facebook rules don’t allow private individuals to sell animals. Nothing to stop 2Mills from selling them though.
TwoMills does ! However it's not possible to tag friends from around the globe / Europe who may be interested and the person has to have liked my page to have seen it

I even posted a photo on a cattle genetic FB forum saying these would be "available" after weaning and that was taken down

I know for a fact that some government secure computers are allowed to access Facebook. I also know how the basics of computer security works, and what is and isn’t accessible to the servers when you access a website. There is no way that Facebook or any other site can access my personal files, stored locally, beyond the cookies etc. I allow them to.

Nothing to stop you sharing Two Mills’ advert on your personal page, and tagging all your friends in it thereafter.
