Sock-twist... (& sometimes trouser-legs too)

Does this affect you?

I have a right-foot only problem with this; regardless of what type of sock I have on, when I wear wellies the right sock will twist at the foot so that the part that should be under my sole is on top and vice versa. Irritating.

Amusingly, I sometimes suffer from left-trouser leg syndrome twisting too; even if I try and compensate for this by twisting it more the other way, it still twists right back around.

You'd think that in the 21st Century we could overcome these trying problems...

I've recently got some very nice insulated wellies made by "Grubs"

These have solved all sock issues.

i find this happens less with wellie liners but it's getting warmer out and they get a bit too toasty after a few hours, you can't win!

I bought some recently too, very nice to wear.

The previous pair I bought used to wrap my right trouser leg up very tight, right up to the top of my leg in about 5 minutes. It drove me bloody mad until I chucked them on the fire at bonfire night, precisely 9 days after I had bought them.

My socks twist round my feet in an anti clockwise direction looking at my toe. I put this down to usually walking forwards, if I walked backwards for the same amount of time they should straighten up.

Jokes aside if it only happens on one foot it might be worth seeing a physio or chiropractor as you are probably walking crooked. Do you have back ache or bad knees or hips?

No discomfort, mal-formity or any other problems, and it's only a problem with wellies. I can still go into the hills with a fair weight on my back and have no problems. I don't say I am perfectly symmetrical, I don't think anyone is for that matter, but I have never had a problem with gait or posture.

Ì used to have similar issues when using muckboots and bucklers. They are a poor fit which is the cause I think.
I have skellerups quattro and the problem is gone now.
And no annoying worn heels that rub the skin off the back of your foot!

They really do fit nicely. Muckboots are badly designed so you need thick socks to stop them flopping about and then they get too warm.
In the skellerups I only have very thin, short socks now.

I used to struggle to get 6 months out of buckler/muckboots before the lining wore out on the heal. And I didn't wear them any where near every day! Never realised how bad they are till I swopped makes!

If you tuck your trouser legs in to your socks you'll find your socks don't fall down or twist and neither do your trousers. A bit more tricky with jeans due to the thick overlappy bit at the bottom but can be easily accommodated by expert level tucker-in'ers.

It has the added benefit of making you look like the local lunatic when you take the wellies off in public too .
