Hi All,
This year has been the 3rd year of running our Soil Farmer of the Year competition, and we are ready for 3 fantastic walks with our top 3 farmers. These events are free, very practical, have minimal corporate waffling and are a chance for you to come along and dig a bit deeper into why these farmers have been recognised. The events are happening this year on Tuesday 3rd July, Wednesday 4th July and Thursday 5th July.

On Tuesday 3rd, you are invited to come along and meet our runner-up Angus Gowthorpe, who farms near York. Running arable and pedigree beef enterprises, Angus has been no till for the last 5 years and is seeing the soil structure improve, especially on his heavy land. This event is taking place from 6 - 8.30pm. BASIS points have been applied for.

On Wednesday 4th July, we are heading down to this year's winning farm - Simon Cowell who farms in Essex. Simon farms 400 acres of heavy clay, and has been working on improving his soils for the last two decades, and has been direct drilling for the last 12 years. Simon's event, again is an evening event and will start at 6pm.

Finally on Thursday 5th July we are going to see Will Steele, who was awarded third place in the competition. Will manages a 210ha mixed farm in Kent and has transformed it from a derelict farm in the 80's to a thriving and profitable business today with soil health firmly at its heart. Will's event is taking place during the day from 9.30 - 1pm.

All the information is on the FCCT website, and we will be at Groundswell where all the finalists will be receiving their certificates. If you need any more information or would like to come along let me know.
