I would have thought "steam soil sterilisation" would be better option..uses much more energy and kills everything.

In fairness, what deserves more research is a trigger to flush weed seeds when you want them to grow- rather than kill them. Smoke water (aromatic compounds found post cellulose burning process) has shown some promise. Were Rothamstead looking at it??

with Basamid costing £90 for 20kg, they're having a laugh - at 200 kg/ha mentioned in the Weekly that would be £900 a hectare. And wheat is worth how much ?
