Solar development and BNG

Talking to a company that calculate and brokers BNG credits, that say it is possible to do this on land going in for solar development so the owner could sell the carbon credits off ( from the land under the panels and paths round them)
Solar developers says they will need to generate some carbon credits on the site to off set the solar development. ( this will be from areas of land on site not suitable for panels)
has anyone looked into this?

It depends what deal you strike.

Ideally you lease the land to solar for the harvesting of sunlight. They have no direct rights to anything else so all the potential BNG is yours for the taking.

Logistically this can be challenging but it’s doable

Hopefully BNG may pay as much as the solar above it one day!

BNG person said watch the solar developers. If they get the BNG rights they can potentially get as much back from BNG as the solar rent they're paying you!
