These are the buildings solar companies are building on farms for free, would these barns pay for themselves here? or is the weather not good enough?
I think it will be cheaper to have a roof under and put panels on top. But I am uncertain of the costs. If the roof is going to be insulated the panels are definitely better on top as they do not like running hotI was thinking if I was to build a new barn, would it make sense to build one with a panel roof? similar to the one pictured
I know nothing of the situation in France I assume you no longer have a system of FITs so you are relying on Exports , or do you hope to use most of it?Here in France the power companies put up the building for free but you need to sign a 20 year contract for them to harvest the solar and you need to do all other works to the building as you only get a frame and roof. We are looking at it if we manage to buy our own place but installed on existing roofs. The accountant reckoned on about 100k€ per 100 megawatts payed back over 15 years. The pay back is something between 20-30k/100mw/year so after loan repayments (very cheap interest here) we should clear 7-10k€/100mw/year for the first 15 years and then on to full whack there after. Seems quite interesting to me.
I have absolutely no idea it was just a recommendation from our accountant to make some relatively easy money! I only have his figures to go on and it all hinges on our buying a farm with suitable buildings to install the roof mounted panels.I know nothing of the situation in France I assume you no longer have a system of FITs so you are relying on Exports , or do you hope to use most of it?
What sort of price can you get for export?
I suspect that is 100 kilowatts, as you would generate significant shed envy if you have roofs to support 100 Meg.Here in France the power companies put up the building for free but you need to sign a 20 year contract for them to harvest the solar and you need to do all other works to the building as you only get a frame and roof. In fact this is my first time to this part of the forum to do a little research.
I rather like the sound of 100K Euro for 100 MegI suspect that is 100 kilowatts, as you would generate significant shed envy if you have roofs to support 100 Meg.
Possibly, as I said I have no idea. If we manage to buy the place we have found the accountant seems to think we should have enough room for around 300 what ever they aresI suspect that is 100 kilowatts, as you would generate significant shed envy if you have roofs to support 100 Meg.
Using @Exfarmer figures above, I reckon 300 Meg is 4500ac!Possibly, as I said I have no idea. If we manage to buy the place we have found the accountant seems to think we should have enough room for around 300 what ever they ares
Sheds not quite that bigUsing @Exfarmer figures above, I reckon 300 Meg is 4500ac!
