solar panels & battery storage

Parents had a big fuss with swalec that swalec wanted them to put in 3ph for their 14kw pump
Used a soft start motor in the end
Rule of thumb is your heating can be 60% of your supply. Bring in use of a cooker and electric showers and the dno just refuses. They have let 2x 11.2kW at 64 amp on though. We did get rid of the electric shower for a nice pressure one.

Is that 'just ' under?
If we knew what “just” symbolises

14% though I would say a lot under £1,000.oo

Being a mathematical expect and a student of quantum physics if I used “just” in my calculations for quantum theory just=1p

How have you used “just” in your calculations?

Hi all, I know this is an archived post and OP may no longer be searching for battery storage,
I just want to mention that TROES (full disclosure, I work for them) provides modular battery energy storage systems for small-mid size businesses like yours. Modularity from 100kwh-3MWh+.
We have a hybrid design that can be paired with solar, wind or off-grid applications.
If OP or anyone reading has a similar project, message me or visit our website https://troescorp.com

Thanks

I’m interested to hear comments from those that have the Solar Sunroof option. Does it keep the car cool on hot days while it’s parked? If so, is it really noticeable or is the car just a bit less hot? Basically, I’m wondering if this is mainly a novelty feature or if it’s very practical and functional.

A solar sunroof in the south of England would contribute possibly 150- 200 Kwh per year ( dependent on size of car obviously). It would help to reduce solar radiation in a car just as would darkening a glass roof.
Whether it is cost effective I could not say, but it would dent the sale of garages 😂

really appreciate that.

Has anybody looked at the cost of small scale PV recently? (6-10KW, with battery) Thinking it's something we should be looking at, with electric prices going skyward- is now the time to install, before the cost of the installation goes the same way with demand.

We're only a domestic supply, but with one EV and one hybrid, we're easily using whatever a 10kw unit could generate..

We recently had a quote for a 5.4 kw package which included a 5.2 kWh battery and associated management package aincluding hot water immersion controller to utilise spare power.
The solar including labour, scaffold, panels and inverter worked out at £6929 . This was Solar edge equipment and Trina panels.
The Battery pack was Give energy and with ancillaries added another £4,100. This was all plus VAT which for domestic should be 5% I believe
Do remember the rule of 75% though. 75% of production is in summer and 75% during the hours 10 -2 GMT
This is important your usage will be far higher in the winter ( for most people ) and protection is at its lowest.
to put things in context last month, may best array managed just over .5 units per KW of installed panels per day. At the height of summer this figure would be 4+units per day

hope this helps

Rather depressing really....

Small scale wind or even better, micro-hydro generation, needed through the winter months to be a realistic option
