...looking for a diversification opportunity on 2 acres?...middle of a village....? Mmmmm.....given the huge & growing recreational fishing industry we have here in the UK, I reckon a maggot farm is the obvious way forward....perhaps to set yourself apart from the existing ones, go free range? :p
Could use a few local corpses to get me started!

The village is basically a circle and we own a 2ac paddock right in the centre. I told them yesterday that they might find it full of caravans and portaloos next August!

or be more subtle and play the long game.. plant loads of trees, wildflowers, dig a swimming pond, cut dog walking paths, put picnic benches out, maybe even football goals. then surround with barbed wire and keep out private signs and never let any of the buggers in!

in a local village, older pig unit, in the middle, it stank, yet every application for p/p, was met by a mass objection ! Only when it became too outdated, and pigs went, did p/p get passed. Never worked out the logic in that, it was a real mess, farmer ran it right down, to try for p/p !

Was there any update on this? We are all rooting for you, Bignor Farmer.

It’s gone relatively quiet.

I told the parish chairman in no uncertain terms that Their actions were unacceptable and it had to stop. I know That my emails were circulated around “anti group”.

We subsequently receive a couple of emails and calls from some neutral villagers saying that they couldn’t believe some of the correspondence and emails that they were being copied into and they felt that it was all very over the top and wanted us to know that they didn’t support what was being said. I’m not sure the exact content of these emails.

At the end of the day we’re doing nothing wrong and they’ve got nowhere to go with their complaints although we’re certainly being watched closely!

I think the fact that the camping and maize maze have both been really successful and not bothered the village at all really winds them up because it lends weight to our larger planning appeal which is what they really object to.

40 years (?) a roman villa was excavated, can't fully remember the result, except had a fantastic mosaic floor, filled in. Fast forward to now, that estate has been bought, by a mega rich man, who is spending millions, to turn it into, a themed park/hotel for the ultra mega rich. To start, he covered the site, with a new steel barn, then replaced that barn, with a bigger one ! Applied for p/p to rebuild the villa, refused, then applied for p/p to build a replica, adjacent to the original, granted. This replica, is 3 stories high, about 30/40 meters long ! In the middle of nowhere ! How the hell he got p/p, no idea, however, his application, to move the A371, was refused, as was his tunneling it, but they have let him, put a tunnel under. Local farm/land, £14500/acre start ! The money, being spent, is mind boggling, you can look it up, on the web, 'the newt', or emily estate.
I drove past there the other day , over the new tunnel, I hate to think how much money is been spent there.

Taking photos on private property without permission is unlawful AFAIK ...
Can be unlawful, but isn't criminal - unless it's invasive (e.g. you shagging etc.) or against a Court order or some such. However, they can go onto a public place, even just a foot away, and take the same pic (invasiveness and Court orders aside) with no problem at all.

I’m quite happy to dig my heels in and I’m confident we’ll get our full PP at appeal. If not I’ll alter it and submit a new plan, they’ve got my back up now so it’ll be one application after another now.

The problem is that it really upsets Lisa who is desperate not to upset anyone.

Just for amusement really, some of our PP objections;
- Robbery and desecration of the church
- All night stag parties
- Won’t be able to prevent child abuse
- I make so much money from farming etc etc
Not been in this situation, fortunately, but know of some who have. First thing, stay polite, second thing follow the rules to the letter, third thing - and every bit as important - don't look at or get involved with social media campaigns, because as a friend, who is senior Counsel, once so elegantly put it 'They are a total mind-f^ck!'* (this in private, not in Court). (y)

*He was involved in a ridiculous matter - someone having made a demonstrably false claim about him - which was properly resolved, but still meant several months of unnecessary stress and hassle.

Good luck with this. Just keep on and if you're sure you are totally compliant and doing things lawfully, this should be reflected in the result.

Some people do need to take a look at themselves, given that short but insightful list of PP objections. I take it the pubs in Sutton and West Burton are all up in arms at the additional trade? Tourism, done well, moderately and with sustainability in mind, can benefit so many
