SOP AGM.

Complete and utter waste of time the meeting is.

I may be wrong, but I thought about 5 - 6 years ago they brought out a rule that every competitor in the same class had to plough their opening the same way? But every match I've been to the competitors have continued to start from either end.

Rules about handling predate this one by a mile but the biggest perpetrators are those who drew up the rules. Nothing will ever change sadly.
With regard to the starting end, some plots are compromised by background "noise" from a certain end. Further down the line the sight picture is clear. Guess who gets assigned to the latter when plot numbers are not publicly drawn?
Fairness to all competitors should be a priority but it seldom ever was. :(

Apparently most of the discussion was about the length of time it takes to judge the opening splits, as the vintage boys leave their tractors running whilst they judge the splits, as usual nothing came of it.meeting was cut and dried before anyone got their as usual 🤔🤔

That ticks all the boxes and the embellished report will keep the Charity Commission happy no doubt.

Why does it take so long at the national? You have to go like the clappers to get up and back in 20 mins, but then it takes a good hour to judge it... Local matches your generally away before I've manage to swap my disc/share, have a nose at the others and have a brew!!

I'm afraid I didn't go, 2 hr trip on a work day just doesn't suit...

In fairness the opening split is the only element of the plot you can not go back and re judge after you have started so we need that time to try and get it right

It probably takes so long because they have got to find out whose plot it is first so they know how many points to give them!

Directors +10 points
Non Directors - 1 point per minute for running overtime

40 mins the judges are supposed to get so that isn’t even two mins on each plot. By the time they have walked them for a look and then point on the way back there won’t be much of that time left!

Dad attended the meeting for the first time, said he liked the format of it and that points for discussion were raised before the meeting so it wasn’t a free for all and kept the meeting flowing rather than going round in circles!
Has somethintg changed at last?
