This may be wishful thinking but despite all the media hype has meat consumption really dropped that much during the past 4yrs in the Uk , or for that matter any other country.
It was back in 2018 that there was the saga of Jeremy Vine tucking into his ham sandwich while doing one of his “hype every body up sessions”, featuring Veganism
I believe that joey carbstrong , Animal Right s activist is still doing nicely Thankyou , coining the money in from his “patrons”:banghead::banghead:
I wonder if @Farmer Roy can tell us if he has heard of Joey Carbstrong on any Australian TV or social media recently, but perhaps Joey finds townies are a lot easier to manipulate than outback people ;)

yeah sorry, never heard of him, I had to use Google to find out who he is

we have a number of animal activist groups here who mainly target the intensive animal industries ( pork, chicken & cattle feedlots ) & every now & then PETA bring out anti wool industry campaigns showing a bloody scarred lamb after being shorn ( WTF ??? ), but no, never heard of Joey

i hate to dispel the myth, but the UK probably has a higher % of "rural" people than we do.

we are apparently one of the most urbanised countries in the western world, with something like 90 % of our population living in that thin coastal strip about 100km wide along our east coast, between Melbourne & Brisbane. We have a higher urban % of our population than Japan . . .

Remember, 85% of vegans give up in the first 18 months as their health takes a battering. There's an opportunity there!
As I understand it, meat and dairy consumption seems largely unaffected in the UK despite the best efforts of the media and big food processors and retailors, and is increasing world wide.

I am afraid it has every year dropped. If you look on AHDB statistic for beef and lamb over 10% drop this year alone.Thats on top of the reduced 5% from last year. So they have made inroads in the minds of young and impresionable .We have a battle here the minds of the next generation they are being poisoned against our product. First news young peoples news paper, vegan slant all the time, a weekly jab at farming. Kids have had it, with me firing of emails when i fume at reading the cr..p correctting the bulls**t written.

yesterday news report on milk consumption reduces markedly in females from teenage through to late 20s, much less so in males, and that this is beginning to show in health outcomes for the cohort now coming through from that age group. possibly a developing public health ‘crisis’.

That’s bad news.
As said on TFF before , a lot of the school teachers are becoming a big problem as regards influencing children to eat a vegan diet, it does not bode well for childrens perceiption of farming and the countryside.
Sadly I expect a large percentage of parents very rarely take their children to the countryside to see what is really like as opposed to how it is portrayed by the media, Countryfile, and Packhams seasonal “………watch” programmes.

I have been thinking about micro plastics from the clothes I wear, so just bought myself a Swanndri hoodie, the only thing is, it is far too expensive to wear on the farm! But somehow, we should be factoring in the micro plastic pollution from the £20 hoodies into the cost. I have read that the majority of micro plastic pollution comes from washing synthetic clothes, that should be big open goal to wool.
